its bc side delts have best leverage 0-90° and he did the bottom rom of the shoulder press which w descending resistance profile meaning it was harder where they had the best leverage
Ah, they’re using my old wrestling coaches measuring system: “I need 110% effort cmon son!” Meanwhile, to this day, I wonder how one could ever go past 100% in anything. It’s confusing
He had more lateral contraction because he was doing the full range of the machine, unlike a lot of people that just pump the top half. You have to initiate the weight with a raise when your arms are lower than your shoulders. He wasn’t ego lifting.

I think wide hands and pause at the bottom help me target side delts on shoulder press ,
I feel my side delt on that exercise too lol
as much as i want to believe this, biomechanically the side delt does nothing overhead
People always say shoulder press hits front but judging by where I always feel the burn I'll be damned if they don't hit the sides
When I do shoulder press I always feel it way more in my lateral delt than my front delt.
