  1. Judo is where I started, I have trained many styles now, anyways I used a hip throw on a main attacker who had grabbed my shoulders from behind me attempting to pull me into a circle of 9 other attackers, I placed one foot outside his hips and one directly in the middle and tossed him into the right wing knocking down 7 of the 10 attackers. I walked away after asking is that it to the group of 10, I was uninjured and never went to the ground, while I had defended myself in that circumstance it was a potentially very bad situation. Thanks judo 😅

  2. What I frequently hear is most fights end up on the ground so judo is good. In a street fight, if you on the ground, you will get kicked in the head by one of their buddies. Being on the ground and unable to move quickly is a good way to get a bottle broken over your head. One on one fights are not going to happen in a bar or on the streets. Stay on your feet.

  3. I took Judo and Karate, and they were useful for different kinds of fights. If someone punches you in the face, a person who has studied Karate will block it and hit back. The Judo (or even taekwondo) person will get hit in the face, be momentarily stunned and open to getting hit again, and maybe knocked out. However, if someone comes up behind you and puts you in a choke hold, the Karate person will get strangled and die but the Judo person has a shot of resisting the choke and throwing the attacker. I recommend both.

  4. Judo is the BEST when there is no eye gouging, throat crushing, ball braking, or ear biting. 😊
    THE BEST! 😅
just learn the first throw, then do that ten thousand times, now you have something.

  5. I practiced Judo for about seven years and competed at the college and open tournament levels. I learned other martial arts along the way for my kicks and punches, but Judo has two key things for the average person and self defense. The first is that full out "sparring" ("randori" if my old memory is correct) comes fairly quick in a training program and one gets used to thinking, planning and moving while someone else is trying to take you down. The second and perhaps most important is learning to fall and minimize or negate damage to your body. You might never get in a real "street fight" in your life but you will probably fall down or get knocked over more than once. Falling is a lot better when you bounce back up rather than lay there waiting for a ride to the hospital.

  6. I did judo for 9 years. Also did ta few other things including shotokan. A blend of several styles works well, which is what shotokan is about. Some kicking, punching, throws, groundwork. There is no one style that works for all situations, so being able to work at different ranges, depending on situation is best.

  7. Judo and Jujutsu traces origin from Ancient Egypt due to paintings and those games are much practiced by us Bahima tribe of Uganda🇺🇬 Tutsi of Rwanda🇷🇼 Burundi🇧🇮 and South Sudan🇸🇸 especially the cattle keepers…we practice this game when we even young

  8. Judo using Judo tournament rules is devastating. Judo where you take an elbow to the face trying to get grips isn't your best bet. Adding Judo into your style is a benefit.

  9. The police statistic tell us that nine out of ten fights end up on the ground so BJJ seems a lot more logical for self defence then just throws, especially when any high school wrestler can take you down…

  10. I did Judo both traditional and collegiate, Judo players don't deal with strikes or even feel the need too, The type of people involved in Judo don't want to be in the UFC or are worried about getting in bar fights, most of them do it for the sport or culture and tend to be educated and classier.

  11. Ive trained in 5 arts. 6 if you count hockey brawling. Judo beats bjj bc it LETS U STAY ON YOUR FEET instead of almost every move requiring going to ground – and get stompted by the friends – like bjj.

  12. Y’all been watching to much John Wick. It’s a movie. Got in multiple street fights in Chicago, Atlanta, LA, Vegas, Jamaica. Last thing I’m doing outside on the concrete is some damn Judo. All you Judo Jitsu people never been in a real street by yourself where anything can happen. The Streets is not the gym, dojo or tournament with a Gi with rules and tap outs the person on the streets is trying to kill you by any means necessary the last thing I’m doing is grabbing someone and giving a stranger an opportunity to grab and get close me. Judo and Jiu Jitsu is worst the worst self defense on the streets . I don’t train for competition or sport or rolling around with a grown man on a mat. I train to destroy and end the threat as soon as possible without getting touched

  13. Gravity and the ground are probably more impactful than a strike. This is dangerous. Someone could be inadvertently killed very easily. Don’t throw anyone on their head please.

  14. I have a black belt in judo and have had for 50 years. Take my word for it, it is NOT the best martial art for self defense. It is a great skill to have in your inventory but, by itself, it is woefully inadequate in a real fight. It is a sport with rules a codes of conduct. CQB (Close Quarter Combat) has NO rules. Even at my advanced age, I still train and exercise. The best self defense skill is situational awareness and if properly maintained will keep you out of a physical confrontation. Remember, "There is always a faster gun".

  15. So true.
Besides being a great sport, Judo can be helpful in a street situation. An attacker unaccustomed to falling would be quite stunned, and when coming around after a choke-out, he'd be disoriented. It has served me well.

  16. HERE IS THEEEE BEST SELF DEFENSE.. EVERY AMERICAN CITIZENS 2nd AMENDMENT CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT AND RESPONSIBILITY! IF A PERSON STEPS WITHIN OUR IMMEDIATE "PERSONAL CIRCLE" OR IS COMING AT US IN A MENACING OR THREATENING MANNER AT ANY TIME???? THEN YOU SIMPLY DRAW YOUR GUN AND YOU STOP THEM! IT REALLY SHOULD BE THAT SIMPLE. KEEP IN MIND! GOOD PEOPLE, PEACEFUL, LAW BIDING CITIZENS DO NOT WANT TO HURT PEOPLE AND DO NOT GO AROUND TRYING TO HURT ANYONE OR TRY TO IMPOSE THEIR WILL ON ANYONE! THEREFORE THIS IS PERFECTLY JUSTIFIABLE! AS IT SHOULD BE! BAD PEOPLE DO NOT PLAY BY THE RULES OF ANYTHING.. THEY DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO GET WHATEVER THEY WANT. THEREFORE, UNDERSTANDING THIS? AND KNOWING THIS TO BE A FACT AND THE TRUTH? IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE TO BE ABLE TO STOP THEM IF YOU HAVE TO! I THINK THAT SHOULD BE THE END OF THIS ISSUE ONCE AND FOR ALL!
