The best boxer ever is impossible to answer really because it would have to be a heavyweight considering they are bigger. Like floyd cant go agains tyson thats crazy. I would say tyson in his prime with cus in his corner.
In terms of fighting, I can't really judge because I don't know the career of all boxers. I've only closely looked at Ali and Mike Tyson, and even then, not that thorough. I can't speak on whether Sugar Ray was better than Floyd because I've only seen highlight reels and basic record counts of the two.
In terms of significance and changing the world, however, Ali is the greatest without a single doubt, and it isn't even close.
If you think a light weight boxer is the "greatest boxer", why not just say a female boxer is the greatest? Or an invalid boxer on a wheelchair?
