Why do police carry guns? Criminals are in control and LE must stand down or face the full force of the law. We are upside down. Criminals must be made to fear the law again.
The officer did exactly the right thing and I greatly admire him for it. He can sleep the sleep of the just. Just because you might possibly have a barely plausible reason to kill somebody, that doesn't mean you should if it could at all be avoided and this was a great example of just that. There was nothing that would have justified taking Larry's life. If the officer would have been rushed at or otherwise been in mortal danger, yes, but he kept himself out of danger and things ended humanely as they should have. Contrast this with that untrained and stupid "macho" ICE jerk who shot to death that woman in a situation totally of his own making and without him being in mortal danger at any time.

You can't just decide to shoot to kill because the suspect is irrational. That's not what police are made for. You should shoot for the chain saw to disable it and the suspect but leave a decent chance of him surviving. Once he drops the saw and is likely injured you get him under control , call for medics and assess his injuries in case you need to stop bleeding or do CPR. Killing everybody that makes threats is not what cops are trained to do. This guy obviously had problems but killing him is not the solution.
End result the judge said oh Larry come on now boouuy I'll let ya off wit a warning 😅
Worst cop ever he let a psychopath with a chainsaw leave the scene and could kill other inecent people he should get a different job
If this was California Larry walks, no charges. The courts would apologize & larry would get a settlement of 4.5 mill for inconvenience
