The reason people compare the cardboard is that its the closest most people can get without taking a multi hundred dollar plunge. People might have a better idea if there was a way to try it out without spending so much money up front. Anything above $100 is going to require people to have an idea if they even like it before paying blindly.

Quest2 is getting old now….VR is stagnating again. New headsets are mostly more expensive. VR needs another boost up like the Quest2 gave it. I'm not sure Quest3 will be it though

No, the prices are sometimes so low that anyone can get started without owning a PC. B-stock or even new stock is available for around €300! The worldwide press just doesn't make enough waves for me and people still think it's just SciFi and don't know what's behind it! Apple briefly reignited the flame. But this flame has to be present every day to be taken seriously!
