  1. My goodness, how I wish I had you on my team. I received more information about the eye drops than the cataract removal process. I had Retina surgery a Vitreoctemy first, then grew a cataract. After the removal of the cataract, I had clear vision up to 24 hours after surgery. Then, Vision became blurred. I was in a panic. I called my eye doctor who was providing after care, he scheduled a visit for the same day. At the visit he reassured me that my vision would clear up in a few days. One month later, no clear vision. I then called the cataract surgeon’s office and scheduled a visit. At the visit, the surgeon told me he didn’t know why I had the problem, but, it was an easy fix with a laser procedure. I became spooked, nothing made sense. So, I returned to my Retina Doctor seeking a new cataract Dr, for laser procedure and after care. After listening to you – four years procedure, I realize that patient preparation and procedure explanations are key in this entire process. Needless to say, I’m totally uneducated and uninformed about the man made lens in my eye.I am grateful to have some vision. Pre surgery, I needed readers for close up. After surgery, I need glasses for distance too. However, I still have trouble seeing clearly out of lens. Today, 2025, my good eye has a small cataract that my eye doctor is watching. I am terrified, because of the previous experience. This is my good eye.l don’t think I can mentally handle a cataract procedure. Can you help me with questions I need to ask and information that I need to know. If one already replaced lens is not working properly, how do you match up another man made lens to get the proper vision result – in another eye. I apologize for length of comment. I still don’t know the why about my horrible experience.

  2. u make me feel comfortable , is laser surgery needed if I only have a bad cataract , it seems like my doctor is upselling me as I was not offered traditional surgery just told simple benefit of laser.

  3. I had cataracts in both eyes. Had the surgeries about 5 years apart due to life getting in the way. For 5.5 years, I dealt with one eye or the other being completely blurred out and never really realizing how awesome it was to have both eyes actually clear enough to see everything clearly. Now that I've had both eyes corrected and only need the basic reader glasses for clarification purposes, it still amazes me that everything overall looks so much sharper/clearer then what it was. I've always enjoyed wearing sunglasses, but, quite when I found out that I had cataracts cause it messed with my remaining vision to much. Now, it feels awesome wearing them again, yet, now weird cause I had gotten so used to only seeing blurred out everything in one eye or the other. I'm glad I got the surgeries done though.

  4. I'm looking forward to join the US Army and I've passed the Asvab exam and waiting for my physical test(MEPs) and im uncertain if im go pass thru cos I have cataract on my right with 75 to 80%. But I can see everything without glasses with the help of my left eye. Should I be worries about the vision test??

  5. Had cataract surgery three days ago ago. Everything is bright! But, still blurry. I had a hyper mature removed.
What can you tell me I can expect please? I’m worried it won’t clear up. I’m already in day three 😢

  6. I haven't had cataracts surgery cause I have no insurance and can't afford it. The cataracts is affecting my vision. Big time. Will will an eye glass prescription help my vision improve?

  7. Dear Doctor, My mother just had a cataract surgery… But now she is seeing red spot whenever she looks towards light like window or towards light bulb.. why it is so.. will it resolve by the time or should I consult with doctor ?

  8. I'm about to have cataract surgery at 48 years young…. I was born with severe Myopia ( -23 ) and currently have ICL lenses. The ICL lenses are going to removed and replaced with the IOL lenses but I know I'll never get close to 20/20 vision. I just want to be able to drive for a while longer.

  9. hope scientist can help regrow natural len in the future……….. artificial len is not safe if you have injury or hit on the eyes………..also hope teeth can be regrown too

  10. Hi Dr. Vijay. I am 34 and I have extreme myopia of about -19 on the left and -20 on the right. I recently went through a cataract surgery on the right and I feel a lot better than before. I have a retinal scar on the left eye. Is there a remedy or any treatment for it? I have checked for a solution in almost all the hospitals in India but I don't seem to have one. Pls help

  11. recently had surgery on my left eye, and immediately started planning for the right eye. I now take my glasses off while driving. Still need glasses for reading, when the other eye gets done, then I will get a new and proper presription

  12. Ive had one done monovision – the other in a few days. Very bad close up and distance. I can now read "shampoo" and "conditioner" on the bottles for first time in 20 years. Cannot wait to see what 2 eyes will see!!

  13. Just had cataract surgery on my lt eye for near vision, po went very well. but it's been nearly a week now and i still cannot read at arms length
i am schedule for the right eye next for distance vision, as i can read without my glasses now as the rt eye is compensating, should i postponed the
    right op? Thank you

  14. This idea that you will see clearer right after surgery is a two edge sword. I just finished my second eye in October and both times after surgery I saw very well at distance right after leaving the operation room. By the next day I was seeing 20/20 in each eye and have ever since. I wore the patch over my eye at night for a week and had to put drops (3 different meds in one bottle) in for 3 weeks. My wife on the other hand was sent to a different surgeon by our eye doctor and had very different results. For the first 3 days after her first eye was done she could not see anything at any distance. It has now been almost 3 weeks since the surgery and she is still not at 20/20 vision. She has to wear the patch at night for 3 weeks and has to put drops (3 different bottles) in for 3 weeks. She is going for her other eye in a few weeks, hope she has better results than the last one.

  15. I reccomend the puresee EDOF lenses by Johnston and Johnston in Turkey last week – the world is beautiful and the op was simple and pain free 10 min op – both eyes simple and no side effects my eyes are like perfect i can read everything and wow the world is beautiful – this lens is the best in 2024 …

  16. I had my second eye done a few days ago and I can now see distance without glasses. I use a pair of cheap readers for close up reading. The best part is that it didn't cost me to get it done. Our Canadian health care system paid for it!

  17. Couple weeks since mono plus lense in right eye. I get some double vision and a little blurry. I guess it will continue to improve over months. Also pos dysphotopsia that should go way too.

  18. Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, founded in 1804, is one of the world's leading eye hospitals.

Before the surgery, Moorfields had given me a booklet in which it said that, as the anaesthetic wears off, my vision may be very blurred and that my eye would usually settle over two to four weeks after the operation.

After the operation, Moorfelds bandaged the eye and I slept with the bandage on. When I removed the bandage in the morning, my eye was so blurry that I could barely see. In the first week, the blurriness gradually disappeared. I began to see brilliant and beautiful colours, on my computer screens, and surrounding objects that I had never experienced. My vision also improved considerably in the first week and it is continuing to improve.

I have to follow a regimen of putting a drop in each eye from 3 different types of medicine bottles at different intervals and for different durations for up to 6 weeks.

The temporary blurry vision and eye drop regimen is a hassle but worth it for the beautiful colour vision that I expect to have for the rest of my life.

  19. I just had cataract surgery two months ago on both eyes and I'm so sorry I ever got it done. I hate my vision now, and I have intense floaters, headaches and dry eyes more then I ever had. I am extremely depressed that I ever got this surgery. If only I could turn back time.

  20. Thank you!!!! I just had my right eye done 3 days ago and the left will be done in 4 days. So far so good….I have worn glasses most of my life (I’ll be 75 in about 2 months) and now I can see distance WITHOUT my glasses!!!!! Close up I do need readers, which is fine. I MAY need to wear glasses again, once my eyes heal completely…that will be determined a couple of weeks after my left eye is done. I’m ok either way. It’s so exciting to be able to see the tv and writings on the tv without glasses!!!! I feel like a new person. For those on the fence about having cataract surgery….do it!!!! You will be pleasantly surprised!!!!
