Absolute BS. The Library of Congress is not a lending library. It is a repository for important paperwork from multiple branches of the government. It catalogs all patents applied for/granted in the USA. It also receives and keeps 2 of every book published in the USA. Not for lending, but for posterity. Trump continues to prove his stupidity.
Am i the only one wonder how anyone from the executive branch could fire the Librarian of Congress? The Library of Congress falls directly under the Congress not the Executive Branch. With this Congress should be able to fire, at will anyone part of any agency or department that borrows Article I powers, at the very least. This would include, DOD, treasury, IRS, any regulatory agency/department.

When MAGA starts threatening actual history through the form of book bans, closing federal libraries, firing librarians, destroying the DOE, changing textbooks to exclude slavery being a major point of contention in the civil war and changing federal holidays, not one republican will bat an eye because no statues are being torn down. The GOP has sold the lie that statues are of more historical significance than books and historical documentations.

More importantly, perhaps she is the House Librarian who EDITED the very first Civil Rights Act, of 1866, because it doesn't match their giving citizenship to the children of undocumented migrants who can eventually vote for them…
Don't trust me, check the websites! The Senate and even National archives websites have REMOVED the 1866 Civil Rights Act from history, and in the House library the part that says, "Born or naturalized in the United States AND NOT SUBJECT TO ANY FOREIGN POWER" (such as Venezuela) has been excised to support their 'disinterpretation' of the Citizenship Clause that was based on it.

I heard nothing in Ms. Hayden's presentation except deep knowledge of her subject, competence, professionalism, and service to Congress and to the American people. I thank her for her service and I thank all employees of the Library of Congress for their service. As a citizen, I apologize to all federal workers fired without cause.

I LOVE the Library of Congress and NASA both have helped me with School work, research, Congress voting records, projects, and so much more. As far back as 6th grade in the 60's, when you had to write them letters and send a sase (self addressed stamped envelope) big enough to hold all the information. AND they would call you. When I was in 6th grade, the first time they called, my mom was like who do you want to talk to? 1970. My mon said why are you writing NASA? My science project. They sent me so much stuff after I explained what I wanted to do. Mom had to send a check to cover the cost of the box. Shorly after Mom called me to the phone again and said now you're calling Congress. I said just the library. I wanted vetting records for everything that had to do with the Viet Nam war. From the start to date.
I want them to be fully funded and want them to help the public forever. THIS IS WHAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WAS SET UP TO TO FOR ALL OUR CITIZENS. The wonderful online presentations are a treasure, bringing the collection and displays to people all over the world. And let me tell you, do not go after librarians.
