THIS A SCAM TO GET MORE MONEY OUT OF AMERICAN PEOPLE OR MAKE AMERICANS A VICTIM. PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT OUR SO CALL LEADERS HAVE DONE. WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO MAKE PRIVATE INFORMATION PUBLIC. THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE IT LIKE THEY WANT AMERICANS TO FAIL AFTER ALL THEIR HARD WORK. GOVERNMENT SHOULD SHUTDOWN THE INTERNET 🛜 UNTIL THEY CAN MAKE IT SAFE. IF NOT WE CAN LIVE WITH OUT IT !   2. I was told by my home ins. broker that Home Title Lock is BS. Go to your country clerks website and sign up for free home title monitoring. Same thing, and it's free. The county notifies you immediately if there is any change to your title. Home Title Lock doesn't pay any legal fees to get your home title back. This nonsense about "experts" at HTL working on your behalf is all BS. Best they'll do for you is refer you to a home title attorney which you pay for out of your own pocket.

  3. Why can't the Feds just make all counties require that a Quit Claim Deed MUST BE DONE IN PERSON & REQUIRES DL & ID & TITLE TO THE PROPERTY to VERIFY & to PROOF that they are the HOMEOWNERS that are doing the Quit Claim Deed?!

  4. I bought many properties in Thailand. To do all the paper work takes 1-2 hours. The land department issues a land title and a contract. Everything is done by hand writing. You have to bring a letter from the body corporate that there are no debts involved in the property. To forge the title and contract is impossible. If one wants to use a property as a security for a loan, a bank must notify the land department. Even if a bad guy managed to forge everything, the transaction will stop at this level. There are very severe punishments for real estate crime. After years on the market I have never heard of any crime concerning real estate. One doesn't need a lawyer to buy real estate in Thailand. Everything is done by the land department. Bangkok is bigger than any city in America, but the longest time I spent to buy a property was two hours.

  5. As a Brit I am always incredulous when you mention this issue Dr Steve. The American nonsensical practice of putting personal info about your property on the internet with no proper safeguards is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. No wonder it's big business with crooks. In the UK and other countries when we buy a property it's registered at the Land Registry but you end up with the physical property deed in your hand. You can keep it at home, in a bank vault or with your solicitor. You have to physically produce the deed when you want to do anything like; take out a second mortgage, change the name on the deed etc. You can't just print a form downloaded from the internet and stamp it with a stamp you bought from Amazon, then take it to get the title to the property made out to you. And then you become the legal owner. How bloody STUPID. I mean this doesn't sound American at all. It sounds like something a backward country would come up with. Americans are usually sensible and straightforward. Get a proper law put in place immediately for pity's sake to stop this ridiculous nonsense.

  7. To change the title of any home needs to require a notary in the government building of the county…… This crime needs to have a penalty of 30 years in prison just like the 30 years homeowners put into paying off a home…..

  8. The county records department should be held liable. Anytime a title is too be changed all homeowners should be required to come in and be present along with the buyer with proof of all documents and I.D. for verification. Problem solved and Home Title Lock goes out of business. Why in the world do we pay property taxes? This is nothing but a fear based scam that the county records office should be sued for. And this bullshit would stop tomorrow. Think about it. This is being allowed to happen by the county records department. Not by the homeowner. The laws should have been changed 25 years ago when the first time this happened.

  9. The Government is aiding and abetting the criminals by NOT doing due diligence and protecting the records that they have a fiduciary responsibility to PROTECT!!!!
    If a private company like Home Title can monitor and keep tabs on this kind of activity then it points to the FAILURE of our Government officials to PROTECT this information!!!!

  10. Don't know why Registry of Deeds in many areas don't require identification when submitting paperwork. It seems obvious this should be done at every step. If this were done, thieves would be much less likely to try this nonsense. A log and or picture record should be kept when any requests for deed modifications are made. In this day and age, everyone has a cellphone with camera, they don't need Thousands of dollars of special equipment to store records of these transactions. In Hampden County MA, this is standard practice for over 20 years. It's not rocket science. With all the privacy notices given at every conceivable place of business, Deed Registars should be liable for any breached security of documents. No one would expect less.
