Taking "No Salt" Potassium chloride makes you pee out sodium, lowering your blood pressure, and apparently uric acid too.
Well I've been told over and over again that because I eat a very low carb diet I have to supplement salt to stay hydrated and that dehydration also causes gout attacks. Now after watching this I have no idea what to do to keep hydrated if I drop my salt down. Dr. Pete's Keto club recommends 10 grams a day for gout sufferers.
My Uric Acid is 5.0, HbA1c is 4.7% on a vegan, high-carb, low-protein, almost no-fat diet high in fruits and tubers. Should I be worried?
Your videos are so tiring to watch they're all the same Don't eat seed oils Don't eat high fructose corn syrup You're not getting enough vitamin d you need more vitamin c Tell me something I don't know okay what's causing gout what can I take to get rid of it ever heard of quercetin I don't hear any of that in your videos All I hear is problem after problem and no solution except eat properly and don't eat junk everybody knows that.
The total cholesterol on the metabolic ill ones is very interesting.
Hi,
Your language/way of explaining cascade of happenings in the body is really awesome. I am feeling that I learned and understood very important things related to my life and diet.
So erythritol as a sugar alcohol is a bad thing if one have high level of uric acid ? What about stevia or stevia extracts?
Osiris…O-si-ris, love you videos
“Orisis”? How about Osiris?
Doctor I would love to meet you
II live in maiami but I go.often to NC
I help lot of people it would be great to talk to you for a few minutes
Great information
Does anyone know if drinking milk is ok if you have high uric acid?
What type of meter works
Dates are sugar bombs! Total fructose! Big in the Middle East, along with diabetes.
Regarding Ckd it’s a nightmare ….some say keto diet…….some say high carb…….which is it?
I have had dry skin left Elbow for years Uric acid has been a family problem and mine was always elevated but since changing my diet, Uric acid is now 4.5 and my elbow is soft and smooth
I have gout but my uric acid levells are completely normal.
Thank you. Excellent video. I got a lot out of this one!
Subscribed! Not all hero's wear capes, but you sir are a hero. Thank you for your time and sharing your knowledge with us.
sugar is beer is maltose
I’ve noticed after eating >100g of fruit or pork, I started feeling itchy within 20minutes of eating. After a few weeks, in visiting the doctor, without tests, she thought it was the beginnings of NAFLD or gout. With liver, kidney, blood tests, everything comes back ‘normal’ … and the dr. suggests it’s stress related…. So I decided to try meat-based diet and no fruit, monk fruit sweetener, etc.
Itchiness has only returned with consuming >100g pork or fruit.
Just learned about the solution of low salt & fructose. Now…to reduce my salt on carnivore diet?
I get uric acid kidney stones….vitamin C brings it on! I can't take vitamin C except by eating fruit
I increased my vitamin C intake. I've had no further problems with my gout. I do feel high fructose syrup is not a good thing in general, not for my gout.
👍👍👍
Superb information about fructose and its effect on human organs. Tks for sharing this wonderful video.
Eating snacks and drinking coke is what sent my gout into super hell pain mode
I stopped eating all meat except chicken.
If you have gout than you know what super hell pain mode is.
I always ask my doctor who says I test in the normal range for my age —
most of America is sick and dying, and the spectrum of normal has grown.
Why would I want to be normal if everyone comprising normal is — sick?
Good form of vit C? Thanks for doing all this…Great Job
Why lower the intake of salt? I partake in a low carb diet, but get painful leg cramps at night. To alleviate the cramps I've increased my intake of sea salt. The occurrence of severe leg cramps has diminished. I've not had problems with gout, but should I still start monitoring uric acid?
I really like this video. I already knew most of what you were talking about because I follow Dr Richard Johnson's work. He also goes into depth about the polyol pathway, uric acid, fructose metabolism, and from an evolutionary point of view.
If you don't know who Dr Johnson is, you really need to check out his work.
Also, Dr David Perlmutter is an expert on uric acid too.
Oh-shy-rees. Not oh-ree-ses
Can you share how to be in ketosis with carnivore
Those with the highest cholesterol were the healthiest…. Amazing. Your talk was well illustrated by your documentation I should give my doc the link to this videol Much appreciated!
i am so interested to learn when you figure it out for yourself, why yours is often high?
Hi, thanks again. Just looked up the Translation of uric acid,. Want to measure it myself. Is it always measured in blood? An how long after eating should it be measured. Best wishes from 🇩🇪 Germany. Love your videos
When you have time, a deeper dive into purines would be interesting. That is, if you have not already done it an I just haven't found the video.
What is the risk for people like me? Pre-diabetic when in my 50s and 60s. Now for the past few years (late 60s and early 70s) after sugar free LCHF for almost 4 years, A1c below 6, fasting blood in the low 80s, no signs of gout, slight build / thin, but with atherosclerosis . Strict carnivore for the past 4 months. Should I and others like me be concerned about purines?
I have cut back on all those lifestyle changes. I have uric acid meter, glucose and ketone meters. My UA has only gone down from 8.5 to 8. I have metabolic syndrome. My glucose had gotten lower from average 126 to 105. I started low dose allopurinol to treat chronic gout and my glucose seems to have gone back up, even higher to 144. I am strict keto…maybe I should try carnivore but avoid hi purine like shellfish, sardines, liver etc I wonder if you follow Dr Pete on You Tube. He is PHD Biochemist who is quite expert on gout as he is a sufferer. I am reading Dr Perlmutter and Dr Johnson. I am so amazed re you and your wife’s health turnarounds. I am attracted to your Naturopath and Food is Medicine background. Thank you.
Great video Doc…my mom has been following a keto/carnivore diet for about 3 years…the past few months she has had deteriorating vision and put off going to the eye doctors because of many bad experiences with doctors over the years…when she finally had to go because her vision was so bad, she was told she has cataracts(one eye is much worse than the other, which is the same eye that she had a blunt trauma in a few months ago but the doctor said they didn't believe that had anything to do with it)….my question is, can stress cause the spikes in insulin(she is prone to anxiety & depression for many years and the past 2 years were extremely bad due to many losses and the pandemic crap on top of that….could that have speeded up the disease process
The purines argument never really made sense to me, my uric acid goes up when I fast. If it is a major driver of serum uric acid how do you explain the spike during fasting? It makes much more sense to me that it's from your body breaking down your stored fat and protein, and most people on keto are doing it for weight loss or have major weight loss, creating those endogenous purines. That is a much better explanation of why uric acid gets elevated when you go keto than an increase in dietary purines.
I'm surprised at the ancient Egyptian diet – ostrich eggs, raw ducks and quail, raw fish. What?
I have essentially been no sugar for four years I am 76. And have the motto if I have to tear open the bag or package, I don't eat it. But certainly not perfect because I will eat ketchup and mayonnaise. I have driven my A1c from 5.7 to around 4.9 to 5.3 my triglycerides from 137, at least that range, to generally between 45 to 50. I bought uric acid meter. And I have generally between six and 6 1/2 so obviously I'm not doing something right. My weakness is Coca-Cola zero and coffee, stevia and heavy cream. I am at a weight plateau and obviously I need to give both of them up especially the coffee and heavy cream.
If I give up the Coca-Cola zero and the Stevia? Is there a chance the uric acid to go down?
Obviously I can try it for a month since I have a way to test it. Maybe the heavy cream needs to go too?
What is a fructosamine blood test for ?
Can the "vitamin C" be ascorbic acid, or does it need to be "natural?" Some say ascorbic acid is not useful. Also, if it's lemon juice, what does pasteurization do in this regard?
You said "sugar alcohols" and you said "sorbitol" and "xylitol." What about erythritol?
PS: Uric acid 6.6, already taking quercetin, homocysteine 13.2, already taking "homocysteine resist." I do have mild "gouty" symptoms that come and go, with both big toes.
My doctor is obsessed with my cholesterol levels, recommending statins and in the same breath, is "not concerned" about my HbAlc being 6.0. It's normal for "someone your age". We are in charge of our health whether we like it or not. Your video and those of other keto/carnivore doctors are educating us. Doctors helping patients. How odd!! 👍
I am curious to know your thoughts on snacking. We know intermittent fasting is good for insulin resistance. Conversely, perhaps snacking is more problematic than we think. People try all sorts of diets, limit caloric intake but snacking might undermine all of this. Today, compared to 50 years ago we are bombarded with junk food, candy, etc at every convenience store, gas station and the break room at work.
Constant high Uric acid is kidney dysfunction caused by pathological things. An eGFR is a good "lab" to get as well.
Do the alternate alcohol sugars creat problems too? I use erythritol in place of sugar
