Rob is one on the main characters in rock, with an insane vocal range and a total showman on stage. Off stage, a clever, funny man who (after what I’m told) is both very friendly and really down-to-earth. This madness was recorded after he quit drugs and booze, and after that awful, meaningless trial, but before he temporary left Priest and then came out of the closet and told the world he was gay. To his surprise, nobody was surprised at all, and nobody cared. I think this song was a statement from a band who then already had been active for almost two decades: "We invented modern metal in mid-late seventies, and we are still the most metal metal band of any metal band, If we want so!" Priest are still playing, after 50+ years, and I‘ve seen them live a couple of times. Always great fun, but IMO, their most important period was around 1976-1980. I’m really not a metal head, but albums like "Sin After Sin" belong in ANY record collection.
The "court battle" was some greedy little shit bags trying to capitalize on 2 delinquent junkies that shot themselves. It just happened that Judas Priest's album "Stained class" (1978) was in their record player. This happened in 1989-1990 i think.
i hope he listens to death's painkiller, as a death fan i think JP did it better BUT it's still hella fire

This album came out as a result of the court battle that was brought about by the deaths of a couple of teenagers that just happened to listening to Judas Priest. The families were so upset that they decided to blame the band for their tragedy. This sent Rob Halford (singer) into a rage fueled anger towards ignorance of common sense. Thus, the heaviest and hardest album they ever made.

First heard them when I was a 15 and now I'm nearly 60!!!! And they rock harder than ever!! Halford is still one of the best authentic metal singers going. Amazing band and AMAZING achievement!!!!!!

Rob Halford left Judas Priest and created another band "Fight." Judas Priest replaced Rob with a younger singer. Last I saw Rob he did a collaboration with Babymetal.
The entity Painkiller could be thought of as a Thor type Deity/God. Sent to earth to end peoples pain and suffering from evil.
One of the best albums I own. Glad I was alive to live this era as a young man.

This came out while I was a Marine in desert storm. Bought a knock off cassette in Dubai, UAE. I had always been a JP fan, but this was absolutely mindblowing! It became our battle anthem!

There was a teenager who committed suicide! The parents sued saying the lyrics of Priest drove him to do it. The case was thrown out of court. Painkiller was the bands response and hardest album ever …
