It may seem brutal but compared to most civil wars this is tame. Rwanda Bosnia Russia Columbia etc all had far more brutal civil wars. I think the fact that both sides tried to create regular armies and only relied on irregulars in a few regions limited the inherent brutality. Irregulars in all wars have a reputation for savagery in excess of regular armies. Lets not forget Jesse James joined an irregular confed unit in Missouri at 16. Its probably not an accident that said experience including among others the Centralia Massacre made him unable to return to civilian life postwar.

You know basic trIning of a soldier is to break your will to a superior , and thats how it works , a soldier never disobey the chain of command, because the military will be chaos otherwise, and remember , a soldier is a lethal weapon, alway support the chain of command , but obviously in this scene all the power resides on the second officer and he fail to recognize it , let's not be him😮😮
