All fine amd dandy when your a natural, but of your not you will need to learn how to 'hold' cue, soft part of hand between thumb and index is a good start 😀
Mmm love your videos sean..but the grip has always fascinated me. Picking the cue up from the table puts the pressure meter up to about 7 or 8…bit tight surely?
For, it's not that simple, I've gonna from quite a tight grip all the way to just recently going lose and using, mainly, first couple of fingers. I think this is a good topic to cover, as it's taken me ages to adjust grip, through trial and error. Casual player (twice a week)
How to grip the cue and what to do with that hand that's holding the cue during your backswing & subsequent follow through is THE ESSENCE OF PLAYING GOOD SNOOKER.
You can pick up that cue in a dozen different ways. It's really not that simple to find something that works consistently and for every type of shot.
Now I've been a fan of grips since I've been watching snooker (36 years now) and the different grips and follow through of Jimmy, Stephen, Ronnie, Alex, Mark Allen, Steve Davis, John Higgins and all the others have always intrigued me.
"It puts the cue on the table and picks it up with its dominant hand it knows this!" (Said in the style of Buffalo Bill from "Then silence of the lamns")
Mark Allen picked up the cue from the table by Just using his index finger & Thumb & Left The chat.
My grip is GREAT & I don't open & close it during the stroke. My grip doesn't move, during the stroke, that's too many moving parts for me…
What I heard was "welcome to the real world and get on with it." 😂
Trust it or not, this is by far the best advice. I've watched hundreds of snooker tutorial. In the end, just hold it naturally is the best
Top top guy, tells it like it is
😂😂😂 biggest lie that was ever told “its not that simple” truth being it really is
Take the grip for your Chinese takeaway
Just hold the cue 😂
Wierdly enough though i throw, write, and do most things right handed but im left handed when playing snooker or pool.
I'm so glad you covered this, I was playing piano on the end of my cue.
new ideas really

Im right handed, but play snooker left handed. Anyone else have this? And why is this so? I just can't do it with my dominant hand.
Brilliant 😂😂😂😂😂
He's making me laugh
😂😂👌🏻
great advice Shaun… keep on going with this stuff
You know a guy with a face, hair, and an accent lie that knows how to play snooker
That's why my game is so bad because I think of every little action I'm doing and it throws me off
Brilliant
Silly questions seem to be a thing these days
Lift the fingers off just enough so that a brown envelope can be slipped underneath.
This is great stuff, as a beginner It’s reassuring to hear areas of the game I don’t have to over obsess on.

Brilliant. 😂 Just pick the cue up and play the game
Had to laugh at this, well handled Shaun as per usual very well rounded response, some players have obviously not yet picked up a cue.
Great video. 🇧🇷
Hi Shaun, i wiah i had known that 40 years ago lol . Hope you're well ❤

So where do you hold the cue if the cue is 59 inches and you're only 5'6" ? The over hang on the bridge hand would be huge
Constructive critism: editing-department might need to double-check the transcription.
Otherwise, keep up the excellent insights, Shaun!
😂
Shaun a natural talent!
