I think they are LYING. they are not interested in saving cats, ecology or crypto, a sufficiently capable quantum computer with a few million qubits should be capable to tell you the date and time when you die, reconstruct images from the past. The faster than light communication is also an objective, creating all kinds of paradoxes.
