American in Japan since 1997: I'm shocked to see that people can and do toss those disposable vape devices containing lithium batteries into regular trash. In Japan, all trash is either incinerated or recycled, and anything containing a lithium battery has to go into a special trash container such as at an electronics store. Sounds like too much trouble, but in Japan we're just used to it. In my city: Burnable trash goes out twice a week, and one day a week for cans and bottles, one day for paper and cardboard, once a month there is a non-burnable trash day–broken dishes, pots and pans, whatever you can fit in the specific bag just for that–and anything larger such as a television or furniture, you have to make an appointment for pickup and attach special tickets you can buy at a convenience or hardware store. We don't have landfills and don't dump trash in the ocean. It's shocking that at least some states don't do the same.

Instead of promoting the so called 'war on drug trafficking the administration does nothing and cancels funding to drug rehab programs or a "just say no" campaign. Americans and America is the largest user in the world, this demand is the root cause.
