You would think the CEO would get in trouble for losing an oil rig, but I just read about the Piper Alpha disaster, and apparently no fault was found.
This was a truly excellent volcano movie! Personally I found the opening scary and disturbing. It shows how dangerous drilling can be; you never know what might happen if you drill in the wrong spot or go too deep. Even more disturbing was that those people didn't even care: they only cared about money! What good is money if you are a fried crisp?
The actors in here were great! Especially the villians. You could see it in their eyes. Lots of actions + thrills too.
A few bits with the volcano were a tad odd. Like they were racing against the clock to prevent the eruption but ash was already falling… Surely ash fall means it has already started? Ash alone can do massive damage. And what about the fumes?
It's a movie. Who cares if it's possible. It's entertainment..get a life you idiots.

Fair movie over all, but the fact that they never noticed that student was missing was disturbing, and the way the little sister was aggressively pursuing her sisters research assistant was pretty cringeworthy.

"I'll be home is 23 days…" As soon as anybody in one of these flicks says anything like that, you KNOW they'll be dead within minutes, and everything will progress on a well-worn path from there. We're in it for the explosions – not the verisimilitude.
Who cares on the validity of the science, says the scientist.
Being entertained as I lie with my blankie and dogs/cats.
