  1. Any band that can play anything on the fly and make it sound 20x better than the original is true musicianship that EVERY artist should aspire to have in their careers. With the heart and soul they continue to put into their musical catalog and being able to keep everything fresh by continuing to change with the times, Metallica NEVER cease to amaze me and the last 36 years have been one hell of a ride for me as a life-long fan. I look forward to attending my first ever concert on May 31 in Charlotte.

  2. As a die-hard Metallica fan and metal-head, I'm not afraid to admit that I'm also a life-long Elton fan, which started when my older brother gave me his copy of Honky Chateau before heading off to college in '76. Thanks Bro! The arrangement of this song is so perfect and the musicianship is so incredible, I'm dumbfounded.
Besides all that, I really think Kirk has reached Guitar God status. Don't get me wrong, the entire band is so tight, but seeing Kirk kill this song flawlessly (and killing it on the Greeny Les Paul – look up the history of that very guitar) proves that he now stands among the rock guitar greats! I don't need to list them. You know who they are. Kirk is one of them!
Dear Metallica, please include this song in your next US Tour setlist!!!!!

  3. October 10th of 1988 I seen Elton john at the palace of auburn hills aka detroit my 16th birthday amazing just over a month later seen Metallica November November 25 at cobo hall detroit both amazing shows for think Elton might have been better the only time I seen him Metallica almost a dozen times more pretty bad ass for a 16 year old except Queensreck sucked balls don't think I've ever listened to them since probably even spelt there name wrong

  4. Not one of those "well, everybody else is standing up so…", everybody stood at once with no hesitation. That was epic and you could tell Hetfield knew it, he could feel it. This ranks right up there with Heart at The Lincoln Center for Zeppelin.

  5. Amazing riff on an amazing song. Imagine being so small minded that you think this is un-metallica or not metal or selling out.

Music is supposed to provide feeling and joy. Elton would be proud, but moreover so would anyone who loves music.

  6. Show me a more satisfying Metallica video than this one and I'll be amazed – and thankful!

Honestly, what a performance – the way they do covers is amazing – they have an awesome balance of honouring the original yet making it very much Metallica.

What I loved is that there was not one person in that building who got that and enjoyed it more than Sir Elton did – he gets it! Absolute musical legends, all of them.

  8. Can't help but thinking – That crowd didn't know what hit 'em! Most of 'em didn't seem to know the song and couldn't grasp what an exellent performance they witnessed!!!!!
