Police officers, after kicking down a door, just don't set it down to block your only exit. Takes 5 secs to set it on the outside. If someone was still in the house and open fire on you, the door is not an obstacle.
So why he do that?
If you're kicking down a door, back kick is 3x or more powerful.

Seen / Delt with three experiences that will never forget; A) USN Sailor jumps off bay bridge (depress/sadness suicide) breaks all bones, body moves in ways cant forget, B) Lady stole truck, ended in a huge traffic collision, multiple people involved / injured, she rolled over, caught fire, had to be cut out with carpet as she melted into carpet DOA, C) Duo stolen car, pursuit ends with foot bail, jumped side gate to a house, took his 12 gauge shotgun, put barrel in mouth and pulled trigger, all seen on FLIR.

While it was supposedly an accident, he did try to hide it. But, at least he owned his mistake. Unfortunately, 2 lives were lost here. And so many more destroyed. Whether intentional or not, the person holding a loaded weapon is responsible. Very sad to hear. My sympathies to all involved.
