I never want ads in a 70$ game, but an optional free cloud streaming tier sounds interesting for folks looking to try out more games. What do y'all think?

This is the most demented crap I've seen. Cloud services don't need loading screens to play ads, they can just play ads at a regular intervals you know like YouTube or at complete random. And if a cloud service is fast enough the loading screen will be far less than 5 seconds you know not a great time interval to place ads. Youtubers really spend a lot of time into sounding like they're smart maybe you people should actually try to get smarter

I will never be okay with ads in gaming. They've made enough money.
I hope not.. I hate ads.. I hate so much… Ads are the reason for people wanting to pay more for services and/or pirate their media. Th amount of ads has removed the desire to pay for a service now and more people are going to go to piracy of content, which is bad for everybody.

Saying itll be free is a little naive. It'll be "free" with a subscription. Microsoft might offer a free ad tier of game pass for a little while but itll eventually be paid. Theyll take the loss to get users then bump up the price. There aren't really any other companies that can compete either except for MAYBE google, but xcloud is the biggest cloud service by a wide margin. Theyll bait people and get them to pay later on top of generating ad revenue to further boost profits.

if youve ever played that one snowboarding game on the ps3, the loading screen is actually a little map you can snowboard on until the next level. pretty cool.
