  1. Sorry to say, but I don’t think this is what the creators of Karate Do had in mind. There could be real injuries here or worse. God forbid. I know that mix martial arts full contact are all the rage reacting against all the fake masters and claims that came before. But this create its own set of falsehoods. Not allowing punches to the head might be essential for safety, but it creates a stilted phony melee situation. The martial arts and the combat techniques from which they emerged were meant for life and death one punch one kill. Eyes groin, neck, joints, hair, biting, finger, jabs, elbows, knees and tearing out the larynx all included. You cannot replicate that in the ring. You turn it into a sport you create brutality. You try to make it an art you invite, flowery circus, acts, or merchandising it you get bullshit. With all the respect to the techniques and training that these two karateka demonstrate, I wonder if the true goals of the martial arts, self-development, character, perfection, health and healing, practical self-defense and fitness are being served. Both of these women will probably wake up tomorrow with bruises all over their bodies, if not concussions.
