  1. I'm a senior, and in my prime I don't know if I could have eaten that much protein, I know I can't now. Four meals of 25-50g/p is an awful lot of food. Would this lead to weight gain? I like to eat oats and fruit and yog for breakfast, which my doctor approves, I guess I'd have to give that up due to its being way less than 25g/p.

I think I'd prefer sarcopenia to this belly-busting regimen of overeating

  2. Ive heard experts spit out stats on both sides and ive tried both approaches for multiple years.

I did 4-5 meals a day when i first starting lifting and then i fasted a few years after that and ive been fasting ever since with some stints of multiple meals when bulking.

Fasting is definitely my way of eating because i have no control over myself once i have that first meal. So for me its just a lot easier to eat with a window. I have "bigger" meals and i stay within calories. Thats for maintaining or fat loss.

When i bulk i use the 4-5 meal approach and i find this easier because like i said before, once i have a meal i stay hungry all day lol

i would say get to know your body and use what works for you. ive been doing this for over 10 years now and its helped a ton. I dont bulk that much anymore so i mostly stay fasting and im just as big and strong as before (might be bigger but idk because i am leaner now) but i do get in ALL of my protein during my window.

  3. I dont give a toss about humans health concerns. Huberistic self-righteousness directly affects an animals LIFE. Artificially brought into this world for taste, convenience, and ignorance.

  4. Woukd love to hear Dr Attias input on this new sugar molecule neuG5gc in red meat that is supposed to be horrible for you. If its a actual thing or not. Seems like it is unfortunately, cause i LOVE my graass fed finished beef. Feel great eating it. But allegedly the bodybhas a severe immune antibody response to this neu5gc molecule leading to…. you guessed it.. cancer. Heart disease ect.. i really wish this wasnt true

  5. Absolutely all Meat is bad for you, cancer causing…..I have personally spoken to many big beef and chicken farmers who have themselves given up eating meat due to what they call illegal hanging times. All meat is supposed to hang and blood to be drained for 7 plus days biblically and legally…but because of the demand for meat they only hang meat for 2-3 days which means everyone is eating blood in their meat which also means that whatever anti biotics and drugs they pump into the animals is now going straight into us. An Eden based diet is the best for every reason…nuts and vegetables have more protein then all meat and much healthier when self growing it of course. This is nonsense guys lol 😆 worldly non educated answers here.

  6. Yeah, he might miss some things here. But I do really enjoy and admire him.
I don’t agree with everything anybody I enjoy says anyway. For example, I’m not gonna go to this guy for tips on keeping my hair.

  7. Summary of the Video:

The video features a discussion on the role of meat consumption, protein intake, and the activation of the mTOR (mechanistic target of rapamycin) pathway in health and aging. The speakers address a current movement that demonizes meat consumption due to concerns about activating the mTOR pathway, which, when chronically activated, is associated with aging and certain diseases.

They clarify that there is a significant difference between chronic and acute activation of mTOR. Acute activation is necessary for anabolic processes like muscle synthesis. Essential amino acids found in meat—such as leucine, lysine, and methionine—play a crucial role in this process, with leucine being a key activator of mTOR.

The speakers argue that intentionally limiting amino acid intake to suppress mTOR activity can lead to sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass) as we age. They also discuss intermittent fasting and time-restricted feeding, noting that while these practices can reduce caloric intake, they might inadvertently reduce protein intake, which is essential for maintaining muscle mass. The importance of balancing protein consumption with fasting periods is emphasized to optimize health outcomes.

    Is Eating Meat Healthy?

Based on the perspectives shared in the video, eating meat is considered healthy when consumed in appropriate quantities. Meat provides essential amino acids that are vital for activating the mTOR pathway acutely, supporting muscle growth, and preventing muscle loss as we age. The speakers suggest that while chronic activation of mTOR can be harmful, acute activation through regular protein intake is beneficial.

They caution against the excessive restriction of amino acids (by avoiding meat) to suppress mTOR activity, as this may lead to negative health consequences like sarcopenia. Therefore, according to the discussion, incorporating meat into one's diet can be a healthy choice for maintaining muscle mass and supporting overall metabolic health.

  8. But everything Dr. Attia is saying after 5 min's in is only addressing muscle gain and maintenance and perhaps weight loss a bit, but he's ignoring the amazing benefits of fasting for reducing a1c and getting away from being pre- or actually diabetic. I'll add that point is taken about maintaining muscle mass, but still going to keep up with the IF – it's saved my life.

  9. All meat isn’t created equal.
Stick with grass-fed organic beef and lamb.
If you can get wild boar and venison… great.
Anything else is chock full of pesticides, herbicides, seed oils, linoleic acid.

  10. People in the comment section here still arguing when we don't know anything much about each other. I intermittent fast because I don't like to eat in the morning so it's easy for me. I'm not calorie restricting. I'm eating 1800-2200 calories a day 108 grams of protein from meat and eggs. The rest of my calories is fat from meat, eggs, butter and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream in one decaf coffee. I am 62 and have injuries and started this diet in desperation because of all over body pain and joint pain which is gone.

For me I need to IF to balance hormones (insulin, estrogen mainly) I not only started losing weight going from 186lbs at 5'6" tall with a medium frame to 149lbs but I lost the weight with body recomposition in mind. I'm still injured, older and have hypermobility injuries so gym exercise is risky right now. I just walk and do calasthenics along the way. That's all I can do.

Now someone else arguing to do something different who isn't me so I doesn't get to tell me how to live and eat. This interview isn't going to phase me. As long as I feel have good energy, don't have pain, losing weight (need 15lbs more) and succeeding at body recomposition and my lab numbers are good I don't care much what others say who want to disagree with the regimen.

  11. Interesting! There is at least one study that says the body is better able to do 'cleaning up' at the cellular level (autophagy) in a fasting state. Wouldn't a protein shake outside the 8 hour window disrupt that process? That (for me) is the reason I do IF. (It's to help with neuropathy – I feel as if I have more feeling in my foot toward the end of that fasting state.) So…just curious about that. And then there is a body of evidence that links caloric restriction with longevity. It goes back decades. It's still under investigation. One researcher (also a proponent, it must be said) is Valter Longo at UC Davis.

  12. So this “expert” is contradicting his previous claims now and saying that fasting has NO benefits outside of calorie restriction? Why didn’t you ask him about fasting benefits? The lack of glucose and insulin spikes? Autophagy? He just lost his credibility in my opinion. I think it’s hard to get enough protein doing OMAD but eating 50 grams of protein at noon 3 and 6 pm is easy to do if you’re not wasting calories on other things.

  13. Marlbovore here — 12 weeks now. Carnivore + Marlboro. Yup, don't laugh. In addition to going full carnivore I started smoking again and I feel amazing!!! I lost 41lbs, my depression and anxiety are GONE and I actually have more energy. Looks like the medical establishment lied to us again. First about cigarettes, and now red meat. Not only do I feel better but my IBS is history too. Wish I'd done this sooner! Thanks Peter!!!
