Let's just hope that in 20 years time bgs will manage to fractionally improve their creaking engine that's currently held together with string, tape and a whole bunch of futile prayers.
The update did more damage than fixing any issue. I am tired of listing over and over and over of listing all that is wrong. I just create my own mods to fix it and run other mods to fix it. I should not have to play a game on a console to get a great experience.
I've solely played Fallout on Xbox shortly after finally upgraded to the X series. Before the update the game was still buggy. For instance, anything in the city. After the update everything runs much better I haven't had any freezes. I only play with about two dozen mods. 1 radio mod and another mod I can't remember what it was are the only ones that didn't work. If you have hundreds of mods …. you should have known better.
I had played probably over 600+ hours of this game when it first came out. Just my opinion, but bugs and all I absolutely loved it! Yes, the main story was weak af, but the settlement building, armor, weapons, side quests and the world had me hooked from first play. When I found out about the next gen update and knew it was time to revisit. Luckily for me I hadn't even played the dlc's, so I got the update, the extra missions, and the season pass for next to nothing. It's so fun going back to all my settlements, checking on, and upgrading them. Also, showcasing my over 30 unique Power Armor suits 😏.
TLDR I f*cking love this game!
14:50 I don't think you're taking into account the development of artificial intelligence. it has the potential to speed up these timelines, especially given Bethesda's "love" for procedural generation.
I been tryna get back into this game, i haven't played it since like 2017. Been playing a lot of New Vegas again recently, wanted to give this a shot. Dude. The FOV on this game. It gives me an aneurysm. Even with FOV slider, it'll fucking reset randomly. I can't do it anymore
I have 0 faith in Bethesda anymore. They can't even patch a near 10-year old game properly, let alone make a functioning new game. And Bethesda is never going to outsource again with all the "Obsidian did it better with NV" and stuff they got.

If you're on PC and have downgraded or are using the next gen update and you still have performance issues on Fo4, I recommend googling "the Midnight Ride fo4 guide", you can follow the whole guide if you want, but I recommend skipping specifically to Mod Organizer 2 section, and then on the right hand side (table of contents) click on Bethini.
Follow that specifically and you can get yourself Fo4 way better optimized than I've ever seen it. I do recommend following the entire guide to fix the game up to be actually playable, but for immediate results, Bethini can make it a lot easier as long as you're selecting the right preset.
The main reason why Fallout 4 was not as successful as Skyrim:
Skyrim: Here, spend an hour exploring this massive underground city filled with beautiful sights and strange creatures and incredible treasure and environmental storytelling.
Fallout 4: Here, spend 5 minutes exploring a gross ruined building for the 53rd time in a row. Your reward is whatever literal garbage you find on the ground (plus this Marksman's Superior Night-Vision Scoped Reticulated Sawn-Off Recoil-Damping Armor Piercing Bayoneted Double Barrel Shotgun, worth 7 whole caps!)

Fallout 4 is an amazing game that do not work. keep crashing and crashing. i tried everything and it just crash more. So that game is dead for me. The only game from them i still play is Skyrim. Starfield is a beauty but boring as fuck.

Thank gods, I managed to prevent the update from downloading and installing. I'm able to just keeping playing my current save.

Clearly, a misuse of the phrase Next Gen update. All this did was add broken weapons, broke existing mods, no widescreen pretty much everything they said the fixed they didn't. Looks nice on reports though.

It is just not mods that broke. I loaded and ran the game in vinila with no mods. It is a buggy mess. Crashes and freezes. I did run an update mod to the unofficial FO4 patch and it helped. The script extender has been updated and patched 2 times already. It did help in stability but there are still problems and I am not impressed. Just have to start from scratch to get it in a playable state. And with a modern machine, I still can not use ultra settings. It is what it is.
next fallout should be fallout 77 xD

Funnily yes it’s a 8.5 but games released for the past 5 years have been like 6s so 8.5 whether 10 years old is good for me. I’ve started playing odysse again and absolutely love it
You know what's funny is they're updating FO4 again… And the script extender, unofficial patch, etc. just got updated…and now they will break…again..lol

Escape from Boston still LOOKS AMAZING for all my fellow console users. Most of the mods I use for firearms are good with it still, and it just brings a lot more life to Fallout as a whole!
Ah amazing, no dlss no fsr, no graphical improvements, didnt fix any bugs, didnt even copy paste the mods that fixed most of the bugs, broke many things, no performance improvements, exactly what a next gen update is

You really have to hand it to Bethesda. They stand by their games so much, they make their newer games even worse than the older games, so the older games don't seem so bad in retrospect.
FO4 is the 1st one I played. I can't do NV now because you can't sprint; it's untenable. FO3 won't run on my PC, but 4 is the best game I've ever played easily and I've nearly clocked a thousand hours. I just can't wrap my head around how so many people can hate on something so insanely high quality and dense.

Fallout4s main problem there are no towns no other named npcs no real places of interest map feels lifeless far too many robots and synths settlements just feel pointless as most npcs settlers get stuck or just aimlessly mope about compared to fallout 3 or fallout newvegas it doesnt even get close
