  1. I used OTC dicofenac sodium topical gel (Voltaren) ONE time for a painful hip/lower back strain, and within one hour starting seeing blinking black spots in my field of vision (left eye only; see last sentence) for about 8 hours – at first, I though they were tiny gnats buzzing around! Since the only thing I had done differently that day was use the Voltaren gel, I did not use it again. After the spots went away, I immediately noticed the presence of a medium-sized floater which has now been swirling around my field of vision for two weeks without interruption. Unfortunately, since I have a congenital cataract in my right eye (I'm now 61 y.o.), and my brain doesn't use that eye, I can't risk any surgical treatment on the left eye to resolve the floater.

  2. Floaters are a mental thing since they occur over and over in the same area. Like a computer program. If you stare at a point, the floater go away. It is mental and not physical. Plus, the floaters are in focus which would not be possible to see since to see something requires a lens but the floaters are behind the lens.

  3. For a person who has had previous cataract surgery, would vitrectomy surgery to remove floaters, cause the eye power to shift ? Meaning, the already implanted IOL would no longer have sufficient power as the eye structure would hv changed due to the vitrectomy surgery.

  4. Dr. Mike, nicely done. Thank you. I'm an artist with floaters for years, and recently some big guys have moved into my eyeballs. But i would rather live with some inconvniancies than risk my eyesight with further more damaging problems. For now I'm praying for these guys to dissolve.

  5. If there are only a few floaters, it's still okay, but if there are suddenly quite a lot of floaters appearing and your vision feels like it's covered by a transparent white curtain and you're sensitive to light, make an appointment with a doctor immediately.

  6. Why cant they just make a tiny fish net and go in and scoop them out? I got another idea , nano bots to go in and eat them and remove them. I got a Weiss ring in my left eye that's driving me nuts

  7. Thank you Dr, I personally have a moderate case of disruptive floaters and was frustrated by lack of viable treatments , I came across the supplement study you mentioned and due to minimal risk associated with it I bought it and has been using it for around 2 months and can see a significant improvement. I know it is not proven to work but as a patient I would still appreciate if my doctor informed me of its availability.

  8. I am Sinful boy.
I know . My Eyesight was extremely good . But I watched forbidden things on internet knowing it is sin.
I am repenting now. I have full trust in ALLAH that he will accept my repentance and help me to get rid of my floaters.

  9. I did vision correction with Lasik and Prk on both eyes with a very popular doctor in NY. Less than two weeks later during recovery i noticed many small floaters on my right eye and several very large floaters on my left eye. I went back to the doc and mentioned how disappointed I was with these floaters and all he said was it was a possible side effect and unfortunately i got them.

  10. I have a couple of floaters. Overall I don't really notice them when driving around. Right now since the it's only a couple of floaters I wouldn't bother doing anything.

  11. Me i see it ive seen it my whole life i acually thought it was called eye strain BUT it is caused by eye strain ive been on tv for years and games so i think that this ks the reason

  12. I llove that you included the pineapple study. I'd never heard of it until now. But it has both really solid and totally whacky scientific basis xD. On one hand, pineapple, with its bromelain and acids and fiber, hugely improves symptoms of indigestion for me personally. This makes sense to me. It might be accelerating the breakdown of whatever's in my gut and improve gut motility. But putting pineapple in my EYES?! Lmao like you said. If it worked? It'd be melting my eyeball. Anyone who has felt the tongue burn from eating lots of pineapple — can anyone imagine that feeling INSIDE YOUR EYE?! Lmao. So funny. Thank you for introducing me to that study. And thank you for providing such an understandable small meta-analysis of eye floaters for people like me, who are irritated to all heck with their numerous and distracting eye floaters. I like to hear that there are options. It was nice to hear that even if laser vitreolysis might only have about a 50% risk of success, that it has a generally low risk of negative outcomes.

  13. leave sugar, leave flour, forget fast food.
