How I Practice Directional 🌳 Felling (Hit the Gap Between the Flags 🚩🚩 )
In this video, I’m practicing directional tree felling using a simple drill: I set two flags as a target zone and try to drop the tree right between them.
I walk through how I set up the practice, what I’m looking for in the tree (lean, weight, crown, wind), and how I use my face cut and back cut to control where the tree goes. This is the kind of training that builds real confidence because it forces you to be honest about your aim and your consistency.
If you’re learning tree work, want to sharpen your felling accuracy, or just like watching trees drop clean, you’re in the right place.
⚠️ Safety note: Tree felling is dangerous. Don’t attempt without proper training, PPE, and a safe work plan.
Drop a comment: Have you tried a target drill like this, or do you practice another way?

How do you guys practice your tree felling techniques?
This is just one of my methods!
Thanks for your support and please if you would, like & subscribe!
Is this practice on personal time? Or is this a paid job where you just happened to have the room to practice accuracy?
Personally, I would have limbed up or topped that tree, before I would have dropped it. All of the overhang in the top of the tree can go out a lot further one way or the other, if the tree doesn't fall where you expect it to.

Always practice and never stop learning. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas
