Idk why the cops didn’t help with the fire or apologize, the farmer probably warned them the hot exhaust and engines can cause more fires and to move them off the field.
My grandfather had a cornfield go up from kids burning paper. The fire was started and the field was gone so quick. After 15-20 min of spreading it looked like a wall of fire coming at the house doing 30mph. The wind pushing the fire and dry field everything eventually burned up after a few hours. It took about 3 days and fire departments for like 5 counties that had to help. So many tractors burned up, a barn, the neighbors house and siding from many condos also melted.
So yea small fires in a dry field can definitely spread faster then you can contain it. It’s quite scary if you have ever had the chance to see a field burn and I’m not talking about controlled burns I’m talking about a real wild fire or arson like what the 3 teens were charged with for starting the fire.
