If there's one thing we've learned about Trump, it's that he starts insane, rattles everyone, and then negotiates down from there. Like most of you here in the comments section, I'm not a fan of this idea at face value either, but I think we need to wait and see where this goes before turning on him just because we don't like one proposal among the myriad of amazing things he's been doing. Also, I think a lot of people missed the fact that this involves Israel and the more enterprising Arab nations paying for this development, not us. So while, yes, this is "involvement" in a supervisory capacity, he's not talking about shoveling more taxpayer money into the Middle East. This is another plan by Trump to get other nations to pay for the things that benefit them instead of always expecting the US to pay to fix the world's problems.

The only ideological problem there is Zionism. If Israelis are the obstacle to 2 state solution they are the ones who should be pinished and shunned. Trump should cut all support for Israel and then these lunatic, fanatic Zionazis don't have a running supply line of massive weapons to "defend themselves" against those people that they have victimised and bullied for 76 years and more, then they will have to think more realistically and either leave the lands that they stole from its rightful owners or find a compromise that suits both sides.
The problem is Zionist fanaticism and the US full support of it, not HAMAS, not Palestinians and not even "Islam" as some idiot pro-Israel ignoramuses like to believe. Nobody from any religion likes it when his literal home, farm and land has been stolen and is naturally going to fight back, and he has EVERY RIGHT to do so!
This is ethnic cleansing, pure and simple. The reason these sporadic genocidal attempts by Israel happen again and again is because since the beginning they stole Palestinian land at gun point and are trying to take all of the land of Palestine with no native Palestinian in it.
If Trump wants this to end he should stop unconditional US support for Israel. Plain and simple. The prlblem will be resolved very quickly.

It’s not just Israel that doesn’t want a 2 state solution. The PLO has been offered this by Israel many times, and they always say no. The PLO wants Israel “from the river to the sea”, meaning no Jews.
Will this area in Gaza have similar restrictions on building as other places in Israel? As an archaeological site it can be quite restrictive for mass building. Not sure there is much in the layers under the current structures?
There are way to many countries in this world, the world should consider condensing these nations, i'd say if your country doesn't meet a certain square miles, then you'll be acquired. If your country hasn't gotten pass the agricultural stage without external help in the 21st century, well sorry, you shouldn't exist. There are two states: Israel and Jordan. Jordan was created for the Arabs who live in this area. There are no Palestinians, only Arabs who live in and around Israel. The problem is the Arabs want all of the land of Israel. They always have. The are not going to get it. Getting the Arabs out of Israel, including Judea and Samaria, as well as the Jordan Valley, is the only viable solution.

So Trump will move the Palestinians out to another country and rebuild Gaza after Israel has completed a demolition exercise. Looks like the Jews are getting what they've always wanted. Palestinians will no longer have to face certain annihilation.
