  1. So on the base ps5, I should play on performance mode? I don't have a 4k TV. Just a 2018 LG TV with 60 hertz. I don't believe I have vrr either. Nor 2.1 hdmi

So should I just go performance mode on my base ps5 at 60fps?

Should I drop my resolution on my base ps5 because I don't have 4k?

  2. Fallout 4 is one of my all time favourite games, a truly timeless classic, been playing for a decade and there is still so much fun content to explore. The PS5 version looks absolutely stunning man, the graphics and 60 fps are a real game changer, loving the chance to immerse myself again in the Commonwealth. 😊

  3. This update broke the mods for series s. Keeps crashing everything. I Uninstalled the game cause I'm tire of loading mods over and over again just to find out that I waste it hours with no result. I got all three Bethesda games and they all remained Uninstalled for the same reason.

  4. If I didn't know any better I would say this is a big middle finger to Microsoft for acquiring and treating Bethesda as an asset can't wait to see a rushed fallout 5 👍

  5. Modern gamers are nearly impossible to please. I get the pushback against woke games. But Fallout 4 is a massive, incredibly fun game. Nothing like this was ever being made when I was a little dude.

  6. I love how volumetric smoke effects can just randomly cause your FPS to tank to half, even on modern graphic cards. I guess they didn't think that issue needed to be addressed. I find myself instinctively just looking down at the ground when I enter Diamond City or random places with smoke stacks or smoke emitting fires. I just did the update on PC, and found it literally feels like nothing changed. Had a vanilla install, aside from the fast loader mod which still works, I think, and tried the ultrawide, and immediately turned it off, the stretched/squashed UI elements look terrible. Honestly, how much polish can you put on a turd. I enjoy playing Fallout 4 (and 3 and NV) but sometimes, you just can't fix the jank engine issues. Should have just left it alone.

  7. I get the point that some people will want to study every pixel and loading screen but as a longtime Bethesda fan who just wants to get to my destination, I make my own fun. I was able to play the game even with the latest patch and the game just works.

  8. @Digital Foundry Hoping you'll cover the Next-Gen Patch 2 that was released yesterday. On Xbox, "Quality Mode" now works, draw distance is increased, but it seems to be using PlayStation 4 Pro settings like PlayStation 5's quality mode: At the top of the Core Vega Plant, the mid-range distances that have always been present on Xbox are missing (i.e. the Super Duper Mart signage).

Interestingly, I fired the game up on my Xbox One X, also patched, and that mid-distance appears gone as well, so it looks like the Xbox One X version has gotten a visual "downgrade" and also brought in-line with the PlayStation 4 Pro version.

  9. The latest patch just released to fix the next gen update issues and now they've messed this patch up as well.

Now auto HDR is enabled in fallout 4 even with auto HDR turned off in Xbox settings. Makes the game look gaudy, too bright and unnatural

  10. New update just came out. There's a new setting on console where you can choose frame rate target 30, 40(on 120hz mode) or 60. The performance mode settings has been changed to a new setting where you can choose the game to prioritize "visuals" or "performance". This means you can choose to play with performance mode + 60fps target, or visuals mode + 60fps. They also fixed the Xbox version!

  11. Beside bugs, features not working at all and broken mods, it is mindblowing they would call this "next gen" to begin with. The devs live in their own bubble, only looking at Bethesda games for the last 10 years

  12. For me I just set my PS5 manually on 1440P so it still delivers 60fps at high/ultra presets still looks great even on my non native 1440p LG C3 4K TV, very disappointed on PC, I have a capable RTX 4070 but all the same bugs and game breaking features are still present such as long loading times and High Physic setting crashes, when people spend more on PC and get a worse experience than console even after 7 years after the game has come out and it breaks some mods that did fix everything it's awful, I will just play on console without mods and enjoy but WTF Bethesda!?

  13. Like I was saying earlier too many crybabies you guys cry over everything they didn't do this oh they didn't do that😂 it's a old a** game what do you expect as soon as this game is done downloading I'm going to check it out

  14. Some Creation Kit stuff nobody cares about. They disabled the launcher for the Steam Deck (the launcher is the only way to change graphics settings in this game). And they broke mods.
They did nothing to improve the port or the overall experience. This should have been released as an option dlc that you can choose to apply or not.

  15. Regardless of both the good and the bad, I have really been enjoying returning to fallout 4 for the first time in 8 years and I am pretty happy overall with the PS5 version of the game, especially playing it on a 65 inch OLED tv with surround sound . I don't really have any complaints

  16. The mod issue is only the start for me, ive had so many issues of the game freezing for a few seconds while loading new areas and stuff and worst of all the update meant the game couldnt be played off a flash drive anymore. I mean Skyrim has the X/S on its tile yet u can still play it off an external drive whereas this seems to require the SSD and to be honest with so many better games out there, this game (especially in its current state) really isnt worth the space! Maybe i can finally crack on with Dragons Dogma 2 instead! 😃

  17. I'm still glad they did this, even if it could be a lot better, Fromsoftware STILL haven't added official Ultrawide support for DS2, DS3, Sekiro or even Elden Ring!

DSR and apparently Armoured Core 6 are the ONLY games Fromsoftware with Ultrawide support, so Bethesda adding Ultrawide support even if it's lacking is still welcome.

  18. Ah yes Bethesda….updated Fallout 4 on my Series X and it wiped out my mod lists and you can't toggle between performance and quality mode (broken). I'm going to play something else until they fix this mess. It played just fine previously with just a few (free) 60fps/4k mods. Bethesda never changes.

  19. Release a critically acclaimed Fallout tv show. Have no new Fallout project announced or in the works. Decide to update the second worst Fallout game. Update is completely broken, especially on Steam Deck.

Seriously who is making these decisions at Bethesda? You had a home run lined up and instead of swinging you just walked. Xbox is doomed at this point.

  20. Why haven't you talked about high refresh rate being broken?
144hz causing physics issue was already shameful at release date, and is 100 times worse in 2024.

  21. Will you guys look into Wrath Aeon of Ruin mediocre console ports? And for FO4, most graphics settings are heavy on CPU and it is indeed difficult to have Shadow Distance above medium with high framerates, what BGS should have do was to make another High setting and rename High to Very High, because from the 3000 units on Medium to the 14000 units on High is unbalanced.

  22. Playing on Series S, i made it a few hours in and was overall pretty happy aaand then i started seeing these giant translucent red patches of the screen in random locations. Deleted my progress and reverted to my save fresh outta 111, keeping my fingers 🤞 that those red blotches (or worse) don't show up again!
