Nevermind that she lead the police on a high speed chase after stealing $170
So…bail is to prevent them from doing it again, which she obviously would so set the bail high. Compensatory damages is what you stole. Punitive damages is to teach you a lesson, which she obviously hasn't learned. Probation is if you're a high risk of repeat offending soon, which she appears to be. So… $2000 bail, $3000 punitive, 1 year probation. Plus fines and jail for traffic violations, evading, etc. That's what I would do if I were the judge. My last words before smacking the gavel would be "You're paying a lot for stuff you're not even going to get. Maybe think about that next time you want to steal"

What is this lady's IQ? 40? She willingly turned a smaller crime into something that should have gotten her jail time. Fortunately, she was apparently let go afterwards for community service and probation….. she'll just do it again.

The sheer GLEE retail workers feel seeing shoplifters get prosecuted is better than any drug. You can go years seeing people walk out with hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise and NOTHING happens to stop them, but every once in a while, justice is served and it fills you with so much joy.

The criminal shoplifting charge would only be a misdemeanor. Running from the cops, and crossing county lines, is an AUTOMATIC felony.
To be clear, the employee at the start said that she stole two bags which she stuffed full of things. The officer only asked for the value of the bags to start since the other objects weren't identified yet, which came out to $170, they found the other stolen stuff in the trunk and we didn't get a total, but the theft was bumped up from a misdemeanor to a felony so it may have been $1,000 worth or more.

I'm from Toledo. I talked to my cousin. Who's a cop I live in Florida. They still have liberal judges and prosecutors there and she did get a slap on the wrist. They didn't do anything. She got community service and probation and some fines and that was it thanks to Biden and the liberals you don't have to be held accountable for anything .
