  1. Hey man! Just got a hoytt axius it goes to "30 draw and I measeired my arms 77 and a half divided by 2.5 is 31. Payed a lot for it has lots of upgrades but now I'm sick is there anyway I can shoot with it being "30 or anyway to get it to be longer?

  2. I learned years ago (I'm weeks away from being 83) that deer don't. ses color! From experience I realized that wasn,'t the definative answer. So from then on [they weren't gospel] Your so RIGHT !!!

  3. There are only a few constants. Food, water, cover and estrus. Changes in weather or moon are subliminal factors. Deer are habitual creatures but some things can and do change those habits. The 4 I mentioned in the beginning are the main ones that dictate a deer's habits. Weather and moon may alter the timing of those habits slightly. The best recipe for success is to minimize your imprint by working wind direction and scent elimination best you can. On public I have even taken advantage of other hunters mistakes and let them push the deer to me. There is no one size fits all. Hunting pressure effects deer patterns and that is probably the biggest reason hunters see or dont see deer.

  4. Deer have their own individual personalities. They all act differently in situations. Heck even among the same doe group, some will run when spooked, some will stick around and see what the deal is.

  5. The collar would affect them for a day or two but after that they’d be back to normal imo. I think Dr. Strickland has done a lot of outstanding research on deer for the last what 25-30 years? Pretty sure I put more stock in him, and or Dr. kroll over the average hunter.

  6. Your information is not correct about them taking deer from Mississippi to Oklahoma. That didn't happen. The Oklahoma study was completely different years before the Mississippi study. He stated that. It wasn't even his study in Oklahoma. Also, radio collars have been used for decades on many animals. Their behavior isn't changed. They leave the collars on for years. They become acclimated to them just like dogs.

  7. Penn State University did a radio caller study on deer also. It's very easy to get a deer hunter to believe that a deer is a human being wearing a heavy winter coat it's very hard to get a deer hunter to unbelieve this.
Temperature ,cold fronts moon phase affects a deer's movement about as much as it affects the sharpness of your Broadhead based on my observations. Let's say their favorite food is falling out of the sky they are going to eat as many as possible and they don't f**** care if it's 80° out. Let's there's punannie roaming the woods they don't f**** care about cold fronts or moon phases

  8. Former zookeeper here. You are 100% right. Even if they tranquilized the deer and it just woke up with a collar on without knowing what happened, whether in its known environment or a new one, it will behave differently. That’s a trauma. It’s going to be more cautious, hesitant and skittish most likely.

  9. The title of your video says it will change the way I hunt! But then at the end you say, keep doing what you’re doing! Humm! How is that any kind of a change! Are you trying to get exposure or to get “Exposed?”

  10. I'm a wildlife biologist with 50 years of bowhunting experience. In my experience, the same deer will act differently in different circumstances, like you said based on their conditioning. For example, the same deer that will spook in the woods after catching my scent will come into my yard and eat from our garden next to a pile of my dirty clothes after dark. We need to be learning constantly how to hunt the deer that we are educating by our hunting habits if we are to continue outsmarting them. I think MSU does some pretty good work overall. The study you cited is sketchy.

  11. I been bow hunting for 30+ years and have hunted in 6 different states in the south and midwest. You are right about deer not being created equal. I grew up hunting in the deep south where the deer season last for 5 months and everyone hunted. Then started hunting the midwest in 2006. It didn't take but a few hunts on public land to realize the deer were no where near as cautious and keen as the deer i grew up hunting on private ground in Georgia. An old mature doe can be much harder to kill with a bow here than an old mature buck in the midwest.

  12. There is absolutely nothing unusual about deer being transported in a horse trailer moving 75 mph…completely natural beside I'm sure the academics pulled over every few hundred miles to let the deer go "potty" and graze by the roadside. If I paid for a Mississippi hunting license I'd be pissed that they sent those deer to Oklahoma

  13. Some people have a real problem with new information that debunks everything they have been taught or told over the years. Yes I’ve been caught up in it also. But I’ve been following the study the university and everything they are claiming they found I have found to be true through my 30 years of being a white tail hunter.

  14. They tranquilized the deer, dummy. They know what they are doing at Mississippi state. I trust their science more than your example of a puppy. These deer were in wide open ranging.

  15. None of the universities take actual hunter questions into account. I've never heard of a university study that actually answers hunter questions… and I've watched them all.

  16. As a Hunter the best experience is your own they say hunt the wind but the wind swirls and I have deer come from all directions , best weeks last in October fist 2 in November keep the does in your area happy the bucks will come eventually I also think the rut deal is crazy November is prime time but a doe coming into heat just doesn't happen because it's November it could happen anytime

  17. Watched the video, made a comment and was immediately attacked by "professional hunters ".
The study has so many holes, misinformation it was very hard to watch.
I live in Johnson city TN and have deer here at the house that i watch all year, the big guy only comes here in the rut usually at night.
I hunt in Georgia on a pecan farm, the deer act so much differently, one wiff of you and their gone.
The neighborhood deer sometimes run but most of the time the head doe keeps a eye on you and the rest just keep on grazing, as many as 10 does and buttons.
My take is the less inter action with humans the more wild they are.
By the way the big guy is a real trophy and if a car doesn't get him, he will die of old age.

  18. I learn something every year about hunting deer. Although I feel like I can pattern deer well in the area I hunt, they always do something from time to time that is different than what I have been observing leading up to the season.
