Criminal Lawyer Reacts to Police Shooting of 4-Year-Old Terrell Miller

A heartbreaking police shooting in Macomb, Illinois, has sparked national outrage. During a domestic violence call, officers confronted Anthony George, who was holding 4-year-old Terrell Miller hostage with a knife. A single shot fired by police killed both George and the child. After review, prosecutors announced no charges for the officer involved, calling the child’s death an accident during a fast-moving hostage situation.

This breakdown examines the bodycam details, the legal findings, the use-of-force decisions, and why this case has become one of the most painful and controversial police incidents in Illinois.

  1. Is it proven that the father was holding a knife to his baby? Or was that a cover up for the cop accidentally killing the boy?

Seems fishy to me, but I could be very wrong.

I’m finding it hard to believe this couldn’t have been avoided with better training/ experience. At the least, surely this fact needs to be acknowledged and addressed.

    Absolutely tragic.

  2. Isnt that why they do those drills?? if they fail and shoot the kid with the shopping, they surely arent suitable to carry a gun? How the fuck is anyone firing a gun in a tiny apartment with no view of anything?? fucking guns man!!! most other countries are doing fine without them. I know UK and Europe have their problems, but the US is like the wild west

  3. The fact that so many people blame the cop and not the pos that grabbed the baby as a shield is mind boggling. The man has already been to prison for murder before is standing there butt naked stabbed mom there’s blood all up those stairs he bolts to the room and runs around the corner with that baby and yall wanna blame the cop because he’s a cop… there’s shitty cops out there for sure but this one really didn’t mean to kill that baby. Also the cop shot 1 round most cops will empty their gun into people.

  4. This is a cold blooded murder and the officer who shot the innocent kid must be hanged.. (a dumb, incapable and a monster).. (for his negligence, faking up as life threatening situation or an attack on him).
The officer was not hunting or in a war zone or being attacked by armed robbers or an enemy.
The officer was fully loaded with arms and ammunition and just used his power and started shooting (he could have used tazer instead).
I will lose faith in justice system, if he gets away with this murder.
Shockingly his other officer colleagues were supporting him rather covering and encouraging him as tho he did everything right, instead of realizing that he made a blunder and did something horrific & heinous 😭😢 heart breaking 💔

  5. Bruce, sometimes I wonder which team you're playing for. As a defense attorney, you have to know that just because the officer sounds like he's struggling doesn't mean that he used good sense in discharging his firearm. These guys do crazy crap all day every day to pesky citizens. They hold the immunity card and, literally, get away with murder. Not saying this was that egregious. But by and large, these guys earn the hate. Don't forget, the US incarcerates five times more people than any other country, per capita. This is a police state. Stop being soft on these criminals.

  6. I don't understand why the cop started shooting? Ok they enter the property to an ongoing domestic situation and someone's been stabbed and people are screaming, but that doesn't mean you escalate the station and start shooting! That's idiotic. Why not use a razer? I'm from the UK and although we have firearms officers, most police don't routinely carry guns. They have to enter similar situations without guns. From this side of the Atlantic, US police seem badly trained and too trigger happy

  7. I don't live in the US but when i see these videos..I think police has the hardest job over there and they should get more respect and help from the general population. There are exceptions like everywhere, and these things happen, but you can tell this officer did not mean to do that and they were there to actually do their job and help. I got goosebumps just watching this

  8. Not for qualified immunity normally in most cases, this is not one of those times. This man needs his brothers, and to not have extra shit over his head beyond what he's holding himself accountable for already.

  9. Personally I can't blame this participant officer. My fault choosing this guy. How many times did she accept the guy back into her life. That auntseemed to care. Sign your child over to her if you let tha man back in

  10. "…put his dick in the dirt…"

Sir, you make me miss the daily conversations that I used to have with my buddies when I lived in my old stomping grounds. I've now been on the opposite coast for a few decades, and sometimes the people out here seem to be speaking a whole different form of English.

  11. 10:23 People don’t hate cops because they accidentally shoot four year olds, they hate coos because of this BS copsplaining. As long as “you and yours” are ok it doesn’t matter that a four year old is dead even though he admittedly had no idea what happened. Maybe if they didn’t so obediently train to protecting “you and yours” above all others then the kid might still be alive.

  12. No he’s not alright, he seems to be a decent human being and what just happened is heartbreaking. Cops are human and he’s feeling it, I feel bad for him. This will haunt him till he leaves this life…

  13. I hate to say it but if the father did stab the baby in the head the officer accidentally shooting the child was probably a better outcome for the baby over life support

  14. Don't take up for the cop, Bruce. The suspect wasn't charging the cop. He wasn't actively stabbing the child. Unless you're shooting hundreds of live rounds per day, to shoot a handgun into a window of inches is reckless.

  15. Anyone in a dangerous situation has to make a split second decision , but if you have a badge, you get special treatment and usually a free pass. When you don't have a badge and still make the same decision you will likely get charged. How corrupt a system is that?
