  1. That slip was created by one of the best boxing coaches cus d Amato. Saying it's not a correct way to slip is doing a huge disrespect. The peekaboo slip is faster but requires more technicalities that most people may not find comfortable.

  2. The peekaboo style is a great style of boxing originating from karate. There's nothing wrong with that kind of slip, it's not a wrong slip. Just like a flick jab isn't the wrong jab or the gazelle hook isn't the wrong hook.

    Fighting is a tool, the peekaboo style focuses on getting in the pocket and narrowing down the available punches to short ranged punches making it easier to predict and slip. An unseen punch is the hardest type of punch.

    I'm not a boxing expert but this style was implemented by 3 champions. It isn't a 1 lucky fighter who happened to be gods gift to genetics. They had a great coach who knew the ins and outs of the style. And honestly if people would stop gate keeping and discouraging from it we might see another champion using it.

  4. It worked for Tyson because he did it very fast, and was strong enough to land that one punch on the counter.

    It doesnt work for us because we aren't Mike Tyson. We don't have his athleticism.

    Just like how if Mike Tyson tried to fight like Muhammad Ali, it wouldn't work, as he doesn't have Ali's body type and foot speed and cardio.

    You have to find what works for
    1. Your genetics (height, reach, physical attributes, etc)
    2. Your athleticism (like how Diaz brothers have slow twitch muscle fibers and great cardio but less power, and Connor McGregor has fast twitch muscle fibers with more power but no cardio), whether you have brittle knuckles like Mayweather and cant punch as hard as you want to, whether you have asthma and need to fight more like Canelo does which is more stationary, etc…
    3. Your natural instincts (do you try to fight on the inside, do you fight on the outside, are you a slugger like Foreman, what are you comfortable with?)

  5. Many people who come usually imitate Mike Tyson or another famous boxer, only to realize a month in that there is a reason they were world champions. If it were that easy, everyone would be doing what they were doing 1:1.

    While taking inspiration from others that suits your style is beneficial, you will never be able to take their whole style, because it's their unique mindset, body, weight, height, etc that made it work for them.
    That's why I love striking sports, no matter what everyone is unique.

  6. I used to slip like this, putting all my weight on my front foot or vice versa my back foot in the direction I slipped. Don’t do it. Stay centered when slipping because when you transfer too much weight to a for at a time it makes you extremely slow. When you stay level on both feet while slipping, you’re comfortable in enemy territory. A good way at to check is if your nose is in front of your front knee, you’re weight is of centered. Still though, some fighters succeed slipping the other way, but this is what I’ve learned through trial and error

  7. The game is hit and don't get hit. Everything else is a social convention. Don't do any illegal moves, don't get hit and vanquish your opponent. How you accomplish that, everyone will have an opinion about. This is about thought leadership. In-group favoritism and out-group bias. I say do what you believe is best and don't be a follower on the basis of someone else's opinion, no matter who they are. As a man, naivete is a vulnerability.

  8. because you are doing it wierd af. stiff back, stiff legs, mostly wiggling your hips. you are doing it like you would never stretch.
    its 100% way to do slips. first and foremost, you are staying in regular boxing stance, with back foot far away. tyson stood way more squere, both feet almost in same line, back foot only slightly to the back, and had wider stance.
    your way aint correct way to slip. its most regular, classic one.

  9. Tyson's slipping included angle changes, that's why it looks so weird. He also did it differently at different stages of his career. Tyson's physique allowed him to slip, pivot, and chamber punches simultaneously, something very few boxers can manage.

    I watched tyson that i started copying his slipping style. I actually had to correct myself to do the right thing and not pick up a bad habit.

  11. I think peekaboo style is no common boxing style , it's an innovative style by Cus and no wants to teach it coz of the risks. But Cus wants a to be entertaining and the peekaboo style fits the criteria. Just a thought.

    But Maybe Tyson could slip like that because opponents respected his power and ferocity of his punches, and that slip as a last resort was more so to intidimate and put maximal power into the hooks

    I don't know if people could establish that pressure , even more so if they love throwing it ,
