  1. In today's episode, we discuss:

0:00:55 – Overview of topics and previous episodes of a similar format

0:03:00 – The viability of living to 120 and beyond: some optimistic theories

0:13:21 – The potential of mTOR inhibition as a mid-life intervention, and longevity potential for the next generation

0:17:00 – A framework for thinking about geroprotective drugs and supplements in the context of a lack of aging biomarkers

0:27:10 – Supplements Peter takes and how his regimen has changed in the last year

0:39:41 – Pharmacologic strategies to lower ASCVD risk, the limitations of statins, nutritional interventions, and more

    0:53:10 – Misnomers about cholesterol

1:07:07 – Why nutritional research is so challenging, some general principles of nutrition, and why Peter stopped doing prolonged fasts

    1:06:17 – Optimizing protein intake

1:11:46 – Wearables for sleep and exercise, continuous glucose monitors (CGM), and a continuous blood pressure monitor on the horizon

  2. Protein, supplements are one part of the longevity, another most important factor is your relationship with wife, parents, children, friends…. West has less value on relationships… people like you should start promoting it…it’s also a tool for longevity

  3. While doing my BA and MA in the 80’s and 90’s, set point theory was well studied. As the body ages, we go through hormonal changes that facilitate changes in metabolism. This is why we grow longer bones, more muscle, stronger bones, etc. even in adulthood we have periods that our hormones change. At those times we are at risk for fat cells hyperplasia.

  4. appreciate the honesty although the science is moving rather fast especially in gene sequencing so im at the stay ultra healthy, slow down the clock and wait for these interventions. even if they are just little by little every bit longer we live healhty gives science more time to polish the treatments and the placebo effect at least can add years so im very optimistic

  5. What I find interesting is that the human body is so complex that there are 135 different medical specialities. There is no way for even Dr. Peter Attia, who I like, to be so certain about longevity nor the possibilities thereof. Living to a healthy 100 is possible. And there is a blue zone in California, and Singapore is very westernized, but made themselves a blue zone by prioritizing diet (it’s multifactorial tho, I agree). Hong Kong is a bustling NYC and they are the longest living in the world. They eat meat several times a day. My point is there are blue zones in western and western like societies. The comment sense commonalities across these cultures like high quality food (minimal to no proceed food), exercise, stress reduction, sleep, good social relationships and support lead to long life. And belief. Men always ignore the spiritual and relational side to this. Maybe that’s why women live longer. And what about AI? It will crack biological codes. Willow is real in research, not just online fodder. Great discussion but some gaps here. Cheers.

  7. Peter is the man! Trump needs to ask him to serve with RFK Jr! So smart, honest and incredibly articulate to make things understandable! Im 59 and still trying to dead hang for 2 minutes, off by 30 seconds. Still play ice hockey! Keep going brother!

  8. Peter – any concerns with the total cholesterol and sodium when eating 5 – 10 venison sticks each day (10 sticks: 250 g cholesterol , 2900 g sodium ; 5 sticks 125 g cholesterol, 1450 g sodium)? Assuming these are not the only things you eat each day. Thank you for making us aware of these.

  9. It's disappointing to know that a genuinely very awesome doctor, is pushing supplements like candy. It doesn't mean he's all wrong or bad, but it's still rubs some of us the wrong way. Anyway, at least he's open about his investments and sponsors.

  10. hope u will interview denis noble on how the gene centri belief of pharma med system is wrog….and his claims aboutb how the system influences dna itself. 😊

  11. Reducing ascvd through cutting Sat Fat was the only rec from my Dr, it was hard to stick to but did yet my cholesterol didn't drop enough. Issue was being super strict leaves so many holes in your diet if you don't understand nutrition. I ended up losing so much muscle, trying to build that back up.

  12. Nor do most people have the resources available to think about addressing ascvd. Most things you need to test and monitor are not covered if you have insurance let alone without. Its hard to set aside the costs for testing when people are trying to just get by and no one is teaching to look out for these things, people start realizing once they have issues.

  13. my favs are 1. 2 gr mercola liposomal vit C, 1. 1 gr krill oil or fish oil or MCT oil; 3. probiotics, I currently take a dental type of probiotic; 4) MSM sulfur, 5) beet root for heart and blood pressure; 5) 5k units d3 and a good vegan general vit pill

  14. 25:00 This view of the "teenage boy" mindset is in my opinion pretty shortsighted.
Because this is also one of the reasons our species progressed and thrived against the odds. It's the kids job to venture further than their parents and there's no telling which stupid idea will achieve this and which won't, the delta goes to both ends.
Let the kids be stupid, old man. You may thank one of them later when he gives you some sort of a nanobot MTOR inhibitor which 99 out of 100 told them was stupid.
