2025 Ultimate Sport ATV Shootout Raptor 700R vs Renegade 1000R vs Scrambler XP 1000 S
2025 Ultimate Sport ATV Shootout Raptor 700R vs Renegade 1000R vs Scrambler XP 1000 S. If you want a general use sport ATV for longer rides offering all-terrain performance you’ve got three main options. First there’s the proven, popular, and very customizable traditional two-wheel drive sport ATV, the Yamaha Raptor 700R. It’s at home in the dunes or carving up tight trails. It’s even fun to sneak on the MX track from time to time. The winningest machine in Pro 4X4 GNCC racing to date, the Can-Am Renegade 1000R set the standard for what a sport 4×4 ATV should be for years. The most powerful ATV in this comparison, it’s brutally fast, with agile handling that lets it dodge trees nearly as easily as machines half its weight. Finally, there’s the Polaris Scrambler XP 1000 S 4X4. Processing horsepower numbers nearly on par with the Can-Am, it trades in some tight terrain precision for the longest wheelbase, widest stance, most ground clearance and most importantly longest suspension travel of any single-seat production ATV in history. A pig on the scale, it tackles deep whoops, lands with a level of plushness and pitches it sideways in corners with a level of prowess that would make most traditional sport ATVs jealous.
Three ATVs, distinctly different in design and seemingly intended use, but somehow a group of machines that a buyer might be choosing between purchasing. So, we gathered all three machines together for some friendly head to head competitions to see how they stack up. For our shootout we headed to Hidden Springs Ranch in Springfield Ohio. It offers cross-country style ATV and dirt bike trails that haven’t been completely destroyed by SXSs, in addition to a large flat track built in a wide-open field offering some naturally occurring bumps, long straights and lots of turns of varying tightness.
In this video, we’ll ride and take lap times on the fast field track. Next, we’ll hit the woods for some head to head trail riding followed by a timed, abbreviated cross country race loop. Of-course, we’ll drag race them as well, because, who doesn’t want to see which one accelerated hardest in a straight line.

We had a lot of fun making this one!!! Can't wait to hear the questions, comments and arguing to come. SUBSCRIBE if you want more sport quad videos like this!
No yfz450?
Raptor all the way.
Raptor and real sport quads for life, "sport" 4×4 are fat, ugly and sounds awfull , if i want a 4×4 i will buy a good old kofiak
I feel like a redneck holding a beer in 1 hand coulda ran that trail faster.. 😂
I’d take the raptor just cuz I’m grateful it still exists. Manual with clutch forever!
#savesportquads
I’ve got a 23 scrambler 1000 s thing is a blast out on the trails
Put some wheel spacers on the Renegade to give a little more width and help with turning hard. Then un-cork the power in that engine.
How sad and depressing that this is what the sport quad selection has dwindled down to!
when is one of the japanese manufactures going to make a big bore 4by4 sport machine
Lets not forget where 4×4 sport quad came from . Scrambler 400 was awesome in its day easily mods on motor brought it to life
the only sport quad there is the raptor, the other two are just utility atv's without racks.
Standard width Scrambler with split brakes and good shocks. I don't understand why Polaris stopped making them…
Lmfao renegade haters proven wrong by the clock
Polaris is JUNK! It does NOT hold up under race conditions. Picked up my 2025 Renegade for $14,500 OUT THE DOOR
The Scrambler and the Renegade are very cool, but I would have to go with the Raptor for reliability.
I got a 450R and a Scrambler. I kind of want the Renegade to mesh between the two and have one
It’s sad that this is our sport quad market today I mean I don’t even consider the Polaris or the can am a sport quad even tho they are very fast machines it just ain’t a true sport quad
i have a 2021 renegade 1000xxc with aftermarket clutching, header pipe and slip on, with tunes and it is crazy fast. My friends are scared to ride it on the trails. i really want a raptor also
HMF exhausts are absolute GARBAGE. I got one for my Renegade and it wouldn't fit right. After sending it back to them, they returned it "fixed" and it still didn't fit. I finally demanded a refund.
Raptor is pure bliss
Would of been interesting to see how the YFZ 450R compares.
Been waiting on this since the renegade xxc video.
All I got out of this video is that prices are way too high to justify buying any of these new
Do not glaze polaris. As a company they’re absolutely terrible. We just lost an entire riding season because of a recall. As a middle aged dude. Buying a
Machine in cash. To lose an entire riding season because of recall is unacceptable. Period. Im old dog. Bought ur machine in good faith and it gets recalled two months later. No fix for almost a year? Then tell us to pound sand. Lol. Never again.
Raptor, baby — LET'S GO!!! 🤘😎
Raptor 😊😊
Pretty cool y'all came to buds, been riding there for years.
What a kick butt video! Amazing review and nailed the quantitative and qualitative aspects. Totally impressive! I am totally digging a Raptor 700R. Hopefully they did a red/black version to match my Jeep. Great content. Cheers from Florida 🌴💯🤙12825
They used to call the Quadzilla a small couch, looking at the size of these Quads, The Zilla would beat everyone of these in the right hands!
Awesome video! Though I'm a mud guy, I do love the Raptor and XXC! There a ton of fun! It was also cool to see your guys testing live, I was there that day. You all do amazing work and make great videos!
It says something when they (although pro riders) were able to get on a manual sport quad and stay close on the track, and beat them on the trails. With more experience on the raptor, I bet they would shave time on both courses.
Unlike the Raptor, CVTs have minimal skill required to staying in the powerband.
Scrambler is needlessly wide. It has the footprint of a sxs.
Shoulda went Old School and threw the Polaris Outlaw 525 irs in there, I remember when it came out it was tearing Raptors up
@ATVonDemand great video, and your summary of the differences is pretty spot on. I have a Renegade xxc 1000r and my buddy has the Scrambler 1000s. They are both amazing machines for sure. We took several machines (YFZ450, KTM 525, Pro R, and the Scrambler 1000s) out to Glamis back in November. We put paddle tires on the Scrambler and it went everywhere I did in a Pro R! We love switching between different machines depending on terrain and how we want to ride that day. At the end of the day though, it's hard to beat the raw fun and engagement of a sport quad.
Great video as always thanks alot.
As owner of Renegade 1000r myself, I highly recommend changing the primary clutch it becomes a different beast.
