The fundamental problem with media and why they could (and have) cover(ed) up truth and created so much propaganda is that there are few, if any, direct feedback negative feedback mechanisms for lies. Sure, people can stop watching or buying an outlet's output, but that's a slow and indistinct reaction that they always try to pretend has a bunch of other factors. There's no arbiter of truth in media that can hand out fines for lies, and there's technically no legal standing to sue them for lies unless they slander you individually.
They have contempt for us. They think they can fool us. They're wrong.
