The whole situation is sad. The woods, how they live, what they are doing to themselves. She needs to be taken somewhere to get cleaned up and someone needs to clean up those woods.

"Nothing about this call is complicated" huh? Really? No one with any knowledge of the psychology of addiction and poverty would ever say some dumb shit like that. It's intensely complicated, and that is obvious as hell to me. What these people needed was a mental health professional to deescalate and extended free couples counseling afterwards. The cops did a somewhat okay job at deescalating but they seem to have zero understanding of psychology whatsoever and were not able to relate to the couple at all. This is not the way to handle situations like this. It only makes them distrust the police more. Fail all around in every single way.
