We lived with God before we were born as spirits. Ecclesiastes 12:7 "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the SPIRIT SHALL RETURN unto God who gave it." This implies we were in heaven before this life. The only way to return to something is if you were there before. However, many Christians do not believe this concept.
