One of the problems with this guest is that he he talks about how the far left is crazy and gives examples but doesn't fully acknowledge that the far right is also crazy. I wish both political parties would stop catering to their extremists. I also wish that they would stop acting like the extremists are the norm. There are moderate Democrats and Republicans but they are normal people and bad for ratings, so of course, the crazy people on the left and right are the ones that get all over the news and are prominently featured online. It's just wishful thinking, but it would be great if both parties would tell their extremists to shut the hell up and that they don't run the party.

It almost exclusively refers to old right wingers with grey hair, usually used to describe politicians, sometimes used for pensioners who have nothing better to do than get incensed over political issues which have a negligible impact on their lives. I've never heard it used to describe middle aged working class folks.
It's way more of an ageist slur than a classist one, to the extent that it's even a slur at all. And honestly, it's fairly accurate. Have you seen some of these "gammons" talk? You'd think they were about to explode into a big pool of dark pink sludge. It's genuinely disturbing.
