I had a very similar encounter( for context I have a bunch of mental disabilities including anger control issues). I was working at a dollar general for 3 years and it came to an immediate end. A man and his wife came in did their shopping came up and were super nice we where joking, he told his wife buy me some cigarettes while i get a drink, she did, i IDed he and gave her the packs, she gave them to him and without looking at them threw them in a bag. They left, he came back like 5 minutes later screaming that i robbed him and scammed him out of cigarettes while throwing one of the 2 packs he bought at me, demanding a free carton of more a expensive brans for his troubles i refused saying its against the law to return or exchange tobacco and alcohol products, and he needs to calm down and leave he process to scream im being a ret*ard and should be arrested for robbing him, i told him thats ridiculous and if he came in calmly i might've just swapped them but that was not an option anymore. After about 30 minutes of me yelling for my manager( because we didn't have any other communication) trying to call 911 on the store phone that doesn't work, he says he might as well shoot me, that he knows people that can kill me and ill never be found, i scream get the f*ck out and that the stroe needs to evacuate my manager finally shows up and tells everyone to keep shopping. as he is actively yelling hes going to shoot up and blow up the store i yell to my manager to call the police because im not turning my back on a man threatening the well being of everone to go get my phone to call, my manager refuses and opens his lane for checkout. My breaking point was him screaming threats at a child. I lose it walk around the counter with my hands up to remove him, he hits my hands down and i swung he fell back a few feet and got up trying to swing back, so i swung again and we repeated this for about 25 feet until he was outside, his wife tells him to stop attacking people, as I turn around to lock the door he charged me and i smashed a plastic hand cart on him slicing my hand open. I yelled at my manager and told him i quit and then had a mental breakdown in the backroom grabbing my stuff trying call 911 while not being able to see from tears and plastic debris, i could only use the voice thing on my phone to call my mom because i couldn't even use the buttons on my phone to turn it on because my body was shutting down from my back( i have crushed my sciatic nerves and a herniated disc and can barely move normally) cops show up after the guy called saying i attacked him because hes white ( im also white) i am still facing a battery charge because the camera showing him hitting me first doesn't work but its still pending after 9 months, if he presses charges the sheriff gave me a list of charges he will face ( most are proir charges for him and the 10 + are chages they would persue for everone present it says 10+ on my document ) felony assault and battery, 10+ threats of bodily harm with a deadly weapon, a mass threat of body harm, 10+ bomb threats, a domestic terrorism charge because he has threatened and pulled a gun repeatedly, and a bunch more mostly felonies its a whole page of charges hed face. Its amazing how someone can threaten death opon people since before i was born but not be in prison and allowed to own firearms, im not pressing charges because i cant handle court well but if he persues charges i will as well, he got multiple citations for this and i got one already that didn't need court just a hearing, mine got dropped after his lawyer didn't fill it out correctly but im still facing a 2nd degree battery charge but im fine with it. I was raised to stand up for others, i was suspended from middle school most of the time because of this because i make sure the threat ain't coming back wether it be a strong talk or a 1v3 resulting in 6 broken bones and a kid needing cpr because he may or may not have been picked up by the neck and pushed into a wall until he stopped fighting back, and ive gotten better but i still have my moments and im content with my handling of this because it could've been worse if my body started shutting down and i started to think a little bit and stopped.

Im telling you, if in the 17th century we knew what we learned in the last 50 years about our farm equipment, I can guarantee you we would be picking our own damn cotton and tobacco crop and praise God every day!!
