  1. Thank you so much for this video. I'm fairly certain that my dry eye is the result of nerve damage from using both Moxifloxacin and Prednisolone drops as prescribed by a doctor a few months ago. Do people recover from that nerve damage? Are there treatments that are effective? Please advise.

  2. This works for me: 1. using my red light therapy wand around my eye region (not over the eyelid though). 2. Castor oil smeared in my eye socket (not in the eye and not on the eyelash line as this has given me a stye). I do this before bed or if I am just at home.

  3. Hi Dr Allen. I am from Singapore. I have recently found your channel and enjoy your contents. I have been recently diagnosed with dry eyes and oily lids. As I have been using Tretinioin cream for several years and heard that this can cause melbomian gland dysfunction. Kindly advise if this is true. Thanks and app

  4. I had a really bad case of dry eyes. The cause was hypothyroidism. The problem completely disappeared when I reached optimal thyroid hormone replacement. I had a lot of other symptoms as well that disappeared.

  5. You have not mentioned anything about Antibacterial Eye Compress Treatment . Can you please answer why? I was recommended by my optician to buy that treatment pack to help cure dry eyes.

  6. Mine seem to only dry out at night, and mostly in the summer. It’s extremely hot where I live and a lot of wind too. I’ve employed humidifiers in the house and that helps a lot. Also an eye mask. Idk if this may be because my eyes may not stay all the way shut or not but I sleep more soundly I think partly at least to my eyes not drying out and waking me up. A friend told me he uses chamomile eye drops or chamomile compresses for his dry eyes and I’m going to try that out. Once I irrigate my eyes in the morning with a gently buffered saline solution, they’re good for the day, unless I encounter a lot of dust or allergens. Placing either petroleum jelly or ayr nasal gel just inside the nostrils reduces a lot of what may go up my nose and get that dry eye reaction I get. Visiting places like Home Depot really bothers my eyes!

  7. I was diagnosed with dry eye after i woke up one morning and made the mistake of opening my eyes only to be followed by intense pain. My eyes were so dry i literally scratched my corneas. It was like someone ran fine sandpaper over my eyeballs.

I managed to get someone to take me to the eye doctor so i could just keep my eyes closed. He told me it happens to many as they age and gave me muro 128 drops and ointment. And put some temp plugs in my tear ducts followed by permanent ones later.

I also had dry mouth but as an eye doctor it never occurred to mention to him. I had problem of choking while eating for some time. And always kept water by my bed when i woke at night etc.

Some days were better than others of course but there were some nights i would wake up with the inside of my cheeks stuck to my teeth and if I opened my mouth i actually ripped the top layer of my cheek ripped leaving the skin stuck to a tooth so i started using a straw which enabled me to suck water into my mouth to moisturize before opening. I also started pulling oil before bed and in the morning.

Still was brushed off by medical professionals as just part of aging. I wasnt buying this because i kept going back to the long lists of seemingly unrelated surgeries and other ailments,(reproductive, kidney and urinary, gall bladder, gastointestinal, raynauds, rheumatoid arthritis, brain cysts, remitting MS, gout, many chemical allergies and on and on). But yet none of my siblings have had any similar issues.

I still believe they are related but have decided to stop going to medical doctors because they do nothing but drain my finances and reduce my quality of life.

A big aha moment came when i decided to buy some grapes on sale realizing it had been years since id had any because of tannins (my drink of choice used to be boiled unsweetened ice tea which i gave up because i got where i seemed to be so thirsty after ice tea.)

On this occassion when i started eating the grapes my mouth started feeling dry as if i had put allum in my mouth or took a bite out of a quince.

It finally registered as i flashed back to childhood on the farm with some issues i had that now i could see now seemed to be high tannin foods. Eliminated high tannin foods and after a week seemed to experience less dramatic effects but not as much as id like.

Next step was seeing effects with dryness and continued flares with high oxalate foods. Elimination most of the time (some of my favorite foods) has resulted in further improvement but still not total elimination. It has been enough of an improvement that this so far is turning into my least painful spring summer for my so called arthritis and balance issues (no falls yet this year).

I know this is longwinded even though i left out much. I am hoping that if someone out there is not getting satsfactory answers that perhaps they start looking to dietary possibilities. Not saying anyone should give up on the medical community as that is a drastic personal decision that can only be made by the individual.

  8. I have asymptomatic dry eyes, I don’t suffer any symptoms until I go to sleep and wake up with my eyelid stuck to my cornea (what results in me opening my eyes and ripping off the top layer of my cornea).

  9. During the night when I wake up to go to the bathhroon , one of my eyes get so dry I cannot even open it. Sometimrs it just pours out liguid Ihabe to keep drying it. Only the right eye has this problem.

  10. I have Sjogrens. Had cataract surgeries 4 months ago and having severe dry eye. On a cortisone eye drop now for a month. Hope it helps. Also using lubricant at night and non preservative eye drops

  11. I haven't had dry eye but my dog did. I figured out that it was caused by the antibiotic in the raw chicken I was feeding her. So, I switched to organic chicken, and the problem was resolved.

  12. Dry eye syndrome is caused by consuming wheat due to the gluten in it. Wheat also causes schizophrenia as the wheat plant has 5 types of fungus. If you you not consume wheat, you will never get a toothache for the rest of your life.
