I always thought I was lucky because I was attacked as well by a stranger when I was 16 and I fought back hard. I was lucky because I had on leggings that were so tight the attacker had given up trying to get them off. I was hit a lot but I feel grateful for being left alive. I'm so sorry for Jesse. Rip
I’ve been taught that the only way to survive an attempted assault is to accept that, in order to get away, you are going to get hurt. Obviously, Melissa already knew that. I would hope I could behave as cleverly, but I don’t see myself grabbing a knife blade. I probably would have clawed his hands and that is less likely to have saved me.
I urge everyone out there to think about what you would do. Rule number 1. Never let the assaulter take you to a more private place and rule number 2. Be prepared to get hurt to prevent it. More private place = death. Standing your ground in a public place probably means getting hurt, but it’s better than death. Peace to Jesse and her family 🙏🏻
This murder is a kind of thing that makes you look at your friends askance and wonder if something so corrupt could be lurking inside of them.
One thing I can never get out of my mind… She had a student coming to learn from her and instead learned she was murdered… I feel for her family and her and that probably very confused kid. That would mess me up even if i didn't know her well.
