The Best Plus-Size Clothing Subscription Boxes

In May, Loft launched an unlimited clothing subscription service for $65. It allows users to take out three items at a time monthly, with unlimited exchanges (and shipping) within the 30 days. That means if you’re on top of it and time it right, you could have two new outfits almost every week.

As a subscription-box connoisseur, I immediately noticed the similarities between the setups of Infinitely Loft and Gwynnie Bee (which recently expanded down to straight sizes from plus-size-only clothing rental)—all in positive ways. Infinitely Loft is extremely user-friendly when it comes to browsing and selecting clothes, and all shipping costs and dry cleaning are handled by Loft. It’s the most size-inclusive selection I’ve seen as well, with regular sizes, maternity, tall, petite, and plus available. (Plus sizing goes from 16 to 26; Loft’s tall, petite, and maternity collections go up to an 18.)

To start, you sign up, pay $65 for the month, and start “closeting” items in your virtual closet. You have to have at least eight pieces in there to start. (Loft also recommends having 20, in case something is out of stock and so it can ship your selections to you as soon as you Return Notify the items you have at home.) If you like what you get, you can buy the clothing from Loft for 50% to 80% off retail.

Pros: The first thing I noticed when browsing is that you can see an item in regular, plus, and petite all on the same page—you just click to a different category and it shows you how it looks on a different model, which is great for people who are on the cusp of plus and could fit into straight sizes. It feels more inclusive that way, and Loft has always been great about having items that go from size 0 to 26. It’s also doing well with seasonality and versatility in its product selection, offering short wrap dresses and long flowy maxis alongside more tailored looks (skirts, pants, blouses, and blazers) for work. I found myself adding at least five things to my closet from every page of the plus section, and there were around 240 items available at the time I wrote this. The search function isn’t perfect, but if you try something like “floral jumpsuit,” every floral-patterned jumpsuit will come up, and they will allll be added to my closet.

When I saw a white denim jacket, I could not hit PRIORITIZE fast enough. I had seen it on the Loft site and considered buying it before but hadn’t pulled the trigger on it. Now I know: It fits like a dream. And I bought it for $54 less than if I had bought it a week ago on loft.com. (The jacket retails for $89.50, but I snagged it for $35.50 plus tax.) Trying before I buy is great for a store I already shop from, because I can figure out my ideal sizing.
