    I have been on a long term keto or lchf diet and have sucessfully lost 110 lbs and maintained the weight loss over the past 6 years. I struggle with inflammation and started testing my UA which ran high 7-8+. I cut out alcohol and anything I could think of and actually had worse results when I was keto than when my diet was more relaxed. This fall I got serious about the diet and tracked my macros closely and determined that I wasn't eating enough fat although my carbs and protein were good. My conclusion was that it was Gluconeogenesis from Protein not Fat that was the source of the UA. I've talked to Dr Pete and he supports my idea. Once I bumped up the fat intake to 1 stick of butter a day, the UA dropped dramatically to normal ranges.

  3. Hello Dr. Goldkamp. Love your content, thank you! I read that when you have too much acid in your body, from the SAD, and too much sugar, of course, your body compensates by pulling calcium from your bones to neutralize the acid. And then that by-product is floating around in your system if you don't get it out of you via the kidneys, that's what causes arthritis, gout and heart/arteries congestion. To combat this, the author's solution was K2 and 100mg Magnesium Carbonate. Can you please look into this and maybe do a video on this? I can send you the source if your interested. Needless to say, switching to a healthy diet is needed, but if you are trying to get your uric acid down, maybe those two supplements will help?

  4. Looking at the table at 26.24 with your meter readings I am struck by how wildly your UA numbers change – a 9.8 but 6.5 later same day. I wonder what your hbA1C is with those glucose numbers, and all the low ketones indicate you are not strictly keto ?

  5. If you want to use a sugar substitute, then use erythritol. It has no effect on uric acid levels and even has beneficial effects for diabetics. The other commonly used polyols are not as benign.

    On Keto, processed meats (Salami)…
    But my Uric Acid is 8.4 (I measured while watching).
    I struggle with inflammation issues, High Uric Acid, and High Lactate Numbers.
    Those old medical manuals would say I have some kind of infection or mold.
    And I just tested positive for CIRS after failing the Vision Contrast Test.
    HOPEFULLY I can get to the root cause. It's not always diet!

I bought a uric acid monitor and allopurinol as I'm a muscular guy who engages in high intensity exercise on a regular basis but researching I found that gout patients that took allopurinol had higher hospitalization rates than those who didn't take it. In your opinion does taking allopurinol likely cause cardiovascular incidents?

    Congrats for this wonderful video serie about uric acid.
    My husband does not take any fructose either natural or artificial, hardly carbohydrates and zero alcohol and purines. His glucose, lipid profile and other important biomarkers are great. How do you explain that his average weekly level of uric acid is 5.7? Shouldn't it be lower? He would like to reduce it but after seeing your presentation I really think he will not achieve it.

  9. This video is really useful, many thanks for sharing. Do you know what is the minimum recommended level of uric acid for men? You say that everything under 5.5 is great but what should be the minimun to avoid risk of Parkinson or sclerosis?

  10. Is there a correlation of overall urine acidity, which can be measured by employing pH paper strips, and blood uric-acid levels? How about with overall blood acidity, which is tested for in hospitals?

  11. Why is your UA all over the map–from 6 to 9.8? Does it depend on the time of day, whether we've eaten? How long it's been since our last meal? Do we take the average of the UA readings?

  12. very informative Dr. i have been a carnivore for over 2 years. initially my Gout was in remission, but attacks came back after I ate carb diets. now back to carnivore/ beef, eggs and salt, butter only. However, i believe high UA issue is caused by metabolism. there are days I am on 48 hrs fast or beef OMAD onl, gout comes back. So, how do we reduce uric acid naturally?
