If anyone out there can record the 100 special and then put it on dvd or anything like that it would be MUCH APPRECIATED 🙏🙏🙏
This is the year they turn 100.
Now, in 2026, the National Broadcasting Company better known as NBC, the network that David Sarnoff built in 1926 will turn 100 years young. The network that brought us tv shows, such as Hopalong Cassidy, Bonanza, the Virginian, the Rockford Files, Star Trek, the Cosby show, A different world, the fresh prince of Bel-Air, and also Golden Girls, A-Team, Cheers, and game shows of Scrabble, Wheel of Fortune, Time Machine, Sale of the Century, and Super Password. A hundred years of television of a network that made people entertained.
They didn't even show Emergency!, another hit from the 70s.
NBC was the pioneer of radio and television! Next Year in 2026 they will be 100!
It is still going today!
Punky Brewster ♥️♥️♥️ punky power ♥️♥️♥️
I’m surprised NBC didn’t include Gumby in there like what they did with Howdy Doody, which gave life to Gumby
at 15 I found Conan on my cousins basic cable and caught wind of the late night wars. as an adult, its one of the most fascinating stories and ive learned alot about broadcast television through that story. thanks for this video!!!
Very cool! Thank you so much!
What year was this?
Keep vintage shows/documentaries coming. Everything can be interesting to some people. Also, 40-50 minute videos is only a good 😉
I subscribed. Greetings from Denmark
Really excellent!
Nice little history of NBC, But America progressed and developed broadcast TV, they didn't invent it.
2:05 – WRONG! It did not start at NBC. More RCA propaganda. TV started at Du Mont. Read: The forgotten network. By David Weinstein.
In Fact, TELEVISION (the technology) did not "start" at RCA until Zworykin ripped off Farnsworth after a visit to his lab in San Francisco. Zworkin's iconoscope tube NEVER made recognizable image until AFTER that fateful visit. AND I personally got that bit of information DIRECTLY from Pem Farnsworth, Philo's wife, in a telephone interview several years ago.
I will admit that TELEVISION (the business) did get started by RCA and Sarnoff. Farnsworth and Du Mont were both too technical and naive to compete effectively on the battlefield of big business. "Swimming with sharks" is the term used most often to describe this dynamic. Successful businesses are created and driven by people who eat there own children for lunch.
Otherwise, this is an insightful program. The Americana aspect is correct.
What a gorgeous,entertaining documentary !
