TATOR V.S. 48,000 LB COIL!!! ROLLOVER SEMI!!! HAS TATOR FINALLY MET ITS MATCH?

Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today our team is called to another very serious crash. A flatbed hauling a 48,000 pound coil flipped upside down while trying to navigate a turn. The coil broke loose and the truck and trailer were upside down. I was sick with pneumonia, so Talon and Oscar take the new Western Star 9055XL and Ethan brings our flagship, the Peterbilt 389X with a Miller Industries, Century 1150R rolling rotator, heavy towing and recovery unit. This turns out to be quite the challenge. The coil is holding the truck and trailer from rolling back over, so it has to be moved out of the way first. This is no easy task for the Rotator. Boomed out at full extension just to reach the coil reduces the lift capacity and has the Rotator, quite literally, OFF THE GROUND on one side!!! This could be disastrous!!! Watch and see if the boys can reel in this behemoth. #wherestalon

My common analogy, “there are many ways to reach 10”. I could have approached this (any) job several different ways. The approach method is important, but more important is achieving the desired result, safely.

Again, a very special thank you to all my viewers, family, and friends who having taken the time to show their support. May God bless and protect you all!!!

  1. Got the job done with no one getting injured which is good. Obviously Ron would’ve done things differently but they still got it done without destroying their equipment so I’ll call it a win. Hope you get better asap buddy. 🙏

  2. Ron, isn't Talon you're shop manager? I see that you still send Talon on some of the major jobs. Sending prayers and get well wishes your way Ron! At least you know what Tator likes and don't like to lift.

  3. Always amazing to see Ethan doing jobs when Ron himself can’t be there! He usually does a great job and I love seeing his way of doing things! Ron you are also awesome to watch and see work! EVERYONE STAY SAFE AND KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK!!

  4. Let Ethan know not to be so hard on himself. Him and the crew got the job done safely. I'm in my 6th year of towing. One of the biggest lessons I've learned is to never be afraid to ask questions. I know my boss gets annoyed with me when I have an issue or a question about something, just me doing the best I can. Every day, I'm learning something new. Rather, it's the easy way or the hard way.

  5. I work with coils of that size and bigger, up to 60k lbs. We have had our coil crane go done a few times in my 20 years on the job and have to get a rotator in to load our lines to keep production running. The way that the guys hook up the coils is to run only one chain and put each of the booms hooks to opposite sides of the coil. That gives them the best control and safety. Get better soon Ron, just wanted to share with you and your crew how I've seen it done and hope they can use it next time.

  6. Hi Ron so sorry to hear that you are sick and sending prayers for a speedy recovery. I am glad that the other guys can take care of things while you are under the weather. I love watching all your videos and have learned so much from them, please take care!

  7. Great team work getting the truck over on its wheels and the coil shipped out. I guess this is one of those jobs to see what they can do while Ron is away. Lots of challenges with this recovery but they got it done. No one hurt thank god. As well for Ron get well soon and get to 100% health.
