  1. at my gym i know who to spar and who not to spar. most of the experienced guys have a good balance and can assess your skill level and adapt. Sometimes your punches are harder than you think.

  2. I quit boxing because the coach would always yell at us to go harder and encourage this shit every week once a week I'd leave with brutal headaches after a brawl and I just knew it wasn't right

  3. Most brain damage comes from sub concussive blows in sparring. Had to explain this to a new gym I joined after seeing a huge lack of control in the ring. Oh yeah they were using 12oz gloves.

  4. My boy can't do full on sparring because he has got a damaged eye and I don't want it to get any worse that's why he's doing karate but love him to do boxing training without the hard sparring and most boxing clubs will not take him on because of his eye

  5. Someone sponsor an Ad for Tony’s wife channel because Tony sped through her Ad/ shoutout. It’s all love, big up for this video great work.

  6. Wicked video tony,
One thing i wanted to mention, which i know might seem counter productive to boxing.
Cannabis has been linked to protecting brain cells and brain health.
Obviously smoking spliffs is counter productive to getting fit lol.
But im thinking pure resin cannabis oil would be great every night to help rest mind, body and soul.
Im aware that the boxing world appears to take cannabis use more seriously than steroid use which i find utterly bizarre.
Have a read up on it mate 👍🏼
Cheers for the videos i really appreciate them 🥊

  7. Finally somebody who talks about the dark side of boxing. Guys if you don't plan on becoming a pro then just don't spar to the head as the Coach said. No amount of money can heal you from CTE. "We're just going light, we'll be alright". Yeah you might but if you do even that for a long period of time you'll probably get CTE and really don't want that. It isn't only about the intensity of the punches but also volume. There's been studies about that. I could go on more but just consider twice if it's worth it

  8. I cannot agree more.. Whats the point of getting punched in the face, if the fighter has not learned to defend hi self properly.. It is totally possible to learn without exposure to that Damage. Protection vest, punching pads work pretty well.. It is totally possible to obtain fighting experience safely with a proper methodology! Why getting punched in the head for nothing…

  9. You can't get the timing or defense without sparring, but you can arm punch without putting body weight into it. It comes with time. Just go lighter without compromising the speed. No one gets hurt and everyone learns. That is the point.
