On a Sunday afternoon in Glendale a stolen pack of steaks sparks a police chase. A turquoise Chevy roars down city streets. It starts at Pick and Save on Silver Spring Drive. A man walks in, takes steaks, tries to fight staff, then bolts. The merchandise is recovered, but he runs. Dispatch puts the word out. The man identified as Ryan is taken down and cuffed. He apologizes over and over. A felony warrant surfaces. He admits to theft, admits to fleeing, blames panic and fentanyl use.

I could have told you he was an opiate addict. he must be in or very near an extreme withdrawl. that's the only thing that would make a seemingly normal young man do this. the drug is so nasty when your coming up on needing your next dose and having no way to get it your brain short circuits. im not forgiving his actions or excusing them but being a previous opiate addict its so horrible. the fear of that withdraw is so all encompassing and if your not going into a treatment center the next morning you have , HAVE to find a way to get that $20 or $40 to get you to the next day only to be in the exact situation again. its a horrible disease that apparently didn't bother our last administration very much and just let them bring enough in this country we will be flush for years. why aren't we locking those scumbag criminals as well?
