  1. Hey Everyone! Calvin, the director here. Thank you for watching Firmware!

I'm a full time VFX supervisor and an ever-learning director. This project came about as a personal challenge to learn Virtual Filmmaking in Unreal Engine. And what better way to learn a new software than creating a hugely ambitious short film. Right? Right…?

I'd love to answer any questions you may have about the making of Firmware, and will be releasing a Behind The Scenes feature soon! All images are rendered out of Unreal Engine with motion capture by Beyond Capture in Vancouver.

  2. One day in the future of CG artwork/animation, a moment will come when, like Dorothy opening the door to reveal the colorful world of Oz, a character will doff a low-rez mask or visage to uncover a human face indistinguishable on screen from the real thing, and movies will be forever changed.

  3. Создатели этого фильма не понимают что такое диктатура. Все может быть в сотню раз более жёстко, на столько, что и самоубийство будет лишь Мечта.

  4. This was really good. In the beginning I thought it was real people. Anyhow I think this could have went another 20 minutes longer and showed them going in and eradicating them. But then again, I'm a guy and I think women would enjoy this one also start them in the Syfy

  5. Immer in dieser besch…. englischen Sprache. Lernt mal eine zivilisierte Sprache, dann gäbe es auch weniger Probleme und Missverständnisse. Synchronisation in verschiedenen Sprachen wäre auch eine Lösung

  6. It was on the uncanny valley side of things (the human movements and expressions) which I get from many productions using UE5, but for a first time using it, not too bad. Story and setting where well envisioned and spark curiosity for more.

  7. Awesome work. Great visuals and an interesting setting.
However, I think it's a shame when the protagonist in the story has too much luck. It makes the story unbelievable and a bit clichéd. And the robots are somewhat stupid that it hurts watching (The bot can't climb up a box????, the bot can't catch/throw away the grenade???)

  8. Great work to all involved. Great scenery. The story is tight and has a "I want more" feeling to it. Only thing, as I am not into AI or computer generated work at all, I always wondered why all humas are so wheel-legged and when they run it seems like a fast, long stretched stride, more than a run. Also the eyes are a "dead" give away its ot real, aspecially from a side view and from a bit of distance. I guess we all know eyes and how they look at you 🙂
