My God can you only imagine had the Romans been able to pull a reconquest of Egypt or even halted the invasion itself. The Empire could've lived on a lot longer that's for sure. I can't believe Emperor Heraclius didn't throw as many men as humanly possible into Egypt to stop the invasion or tried to recruit more men from across the remaining empire. The succession crisis obviously didn't help things either after his death too. The loss of Egypt to the invaders was a travesty.
