Great show, but inaccurate portrayal of Egypt. By this time Egypt was Hellenized, so they would be practicing Greek culture and customs. I understand they did it to have an exotic Egypt in contrast to Rome, but it would have been nice from a historial pov.
The amount of "Egyptian" extras on the scene alone kinda makes me question the producers and writers why they weren't able to bring us the "Battle of the Nile".
Armor and weapons aren't even that of a problem since majority of the troops are lightly armed but they still pose a threat. One example of which is a levied Pike Corps of Egyptian natives. Just give them a round shield and a overly long spear. There, problem solved. It's not that big of a deal.
