  1. Evolve made it quite clear why IGN was not a reliable critic. They criticized and gave poor scores to good games and good scores to bad games. Now I only watch videos from IGN if another channel like DF mentioned it.

  2. Man, I did you play Evolve when it released? That game was fucking amazing and I still miss it. Yeah, a round with people not knowing what to do or how to work together could be boring, but when everyone actually knew how to play? chef kiss

  3. 15$ bucks for a monster was bs. I'll give people that one and the lack of content, but the skins guess what you don't need to buy skins and running in circles you were playing wrong 2 chase the monster while the other 2 cut the monster off if all 4 players are chasing the monster than ya you'll be going in circles

  4. As a customer, you simply felt like you were being taken for a ride. I also pre-ordered the season pass back then. After what felt like two weeks, the season was over and the second pass was out. I thought the hunters were much cooler in this one. It left the aftertaste that the content was deliberately cut before release. Was also one or the main reason why I stopped playing.

  5. hide and seek is a nice idea… but i think if they had an objective task to complete as a team around the map (fix the thingamegig and rebuild the wotchamacallit… while also this powerful monster was stalking them and picking them off (a-la alien) while they tried… i imagine would maybe be better? "team alien isolation"

  6. This is a little misleading, the game was actually very fun and worked well when with mates (like DBD), its issues were the way they handled DLC and Micro-transations, not the core game

  7. I disagree with you, I thought the gameplay of Evolve was so much fun. There’s literally no game like it in the modern era and no one as unique as it. My friends and I still talk about it till this day.

Running around in circles to kill a monster is very simple description. You can give most games simple description like that and it’ll sound bad.

  8. The predatory microtransactions along with the lack of game modes was the downfall of this amazing game. I wanted to see monster vs monster with hunter interference hunter and monster vs another team of hunters and monster or waves of ai etc. They're were so many possibilities it's a shame and the lack of client hosted servers after support ended was the nail in the coffin.

  9. I remember telling a friend that I was more excited for an assassins creed release than this game and he was shocked because I said evolve looks boring, practically one game mode and that's all.

  10. I was so hyped for this game and got to play the beta. After that, I cancelled my preorder. Monster was so unfin because of having to run and hide ajd playing in a non organized group was instant death. It felt so damn unbalanced and the loop wasn't fun. I was so disappointed by Evolve.

Its also kind of crazy that this game failed while an equally baren game (Dead By Daylight) succeeded

  11. You didn’t really describe Evolve, you just described the fundamental mechanics and the rough outline of how the game is designed. There’s a lot of nuance that made the game what it is.

I’m not disagreeing with your take. Evolve got figured out and crushed under the one meta that all players sank into. But if we’re going to learn from this stuff then it needs to be a sincere effort… not disingenuous hyperbole.

  12. I remember this game being super fun. Mostly because of the visuals and it was something truly unique and the Monsters and environments provided for some good horror moments. But this video did remind me that playing as a hunter was at times pointless. I wish they would bring it back at least the bones of it and rebuild it or make it into a single player game. It was an era in of itself.

  13. the first game of evolve was so much fun! actually very good. second game was a little bit less. next game was way less, the one after that was really boring. and then i never played it again.
