  1. Honestly the only thing about the modern gaming video that was worth criticizing was the indie list. Not all indie games are Roguelikes, you have JRPGs , Survival Horror, Side Scrollers, Point and Click, and Visual Novels. Let’s not also forget about Boomer Shooters, anyone that’s a fan of Doom, Quake, And Turok should know there is a torrent of old school inspired fps. The eight that come to mine are Dusk, Prodeus, Project Warlock, Ultrakill, Chop Goblins, Amid Evil, Selaco, and finally Cultic. The only Survival Horror game I’m playing right now is Signalis. As for JRPGs, Sea of Stars is a good one, Anno Mutationem is pretty good too if you like the idea a more smaller Cyberpunk side scroller with open zones to explore. But regardless, the other quote “Criticisms” are either memes or stupid takes.

  2. 21:45
I mean yeah it is just video games, but it also means that the people taking over your industries, media and culture fucking suck ass at making anything good. It shows that creativity in the west is decaying lol

  3. 20:07 SBI won't be ruing any truly great games, but they will end up ruining a bunch middle of the road slop that gets pumped out by the likes of Activision, Microsoft and EA, because they are the only ones who can afford to pay for consulting in the first place. This DEI shit is mostly just a money extortion racket, it just so happens that the racket is being run by a bunch of 'activists'

  4. The Arguments of "Actually do something to fix the Industrie instead of just complaining about it", and "Making Games is harder than you think, YOU make one" fall apart the moment you charge 60$ for a Game

  5. its funny because if you go back and watch devs of old talk about crunch culture… even the devs defend it. It made good games, and crunch culture is misleading as 90% of the time back then it was passion culture, theres devs that talk about ccrunch and say its not always mandatory and more often than not (back in ps3 days or earlier) it was done out of passion for what they were creating.

ill absolutely, unironically and sincerely defend "crunch culture'. I am a consumer. IDC about what x dev had to do or not, all i care about is whether the game is good seeing as it comes at my expense. Crunch culture made some of the best games and was some of the most well spent money ive ever put towards gaming.

fuck these soft ass pussies who want garbage for more $, they all sound like D2 fans.

  6. Uhm… you should have become a pngtuber and made 18 hour video essays on exposing commentary channels who were last relevant before the turn of the decade hope this helped! Some folx just aren't into hearing your racist incel 4chan chud rantings… all bodies deserve a chance at representation in media and it's disgusting how misogynistic transphobic cishets like you want to take that away from us. Do better.

  7. 18:30… might wanna do a deep dive on HOW Sweet baby operates… blackmail, removal of long time devs, DOXXING Devs, fear culture in the office. I would say its 1000x worse than crunch in ruining a game for BOTH the Dev and the Customer.

  8. Not a creator, but as a frequent consumer of The YouTube Video Essay:

You're not going to be the next PewDiePie or MatPat or whatever. That area of content is well and truly saturated to hell.

But I could absolutely see you alongside channels like Sseth, Mandalore, Civvie, RagnarRox, etc. They all have inconsistent upload schedules, niche topics, and unapologetically personal styles of presentation.

I know you've heard this a billion times already, but seriously, don't sweat it. This doesn't have to be your career and/or identity. You don't have to chase the algorithm, nor try to predict the tastes of an audience you've not actually met in person. It's obvious to about 80K people that your passion and delivery can carry any subject and make it engaging.

I have no current interest in physics ball games, but I bet that when I watch your future video on it, it will be the most fascinating thing in my world at that moment. Looking forward to sharing your joy about them.

  9. As for your Sweet Baby point: They are a symptom of a greater problem, and that is the fact that to secure video game funding, one must put out a list of DEI goals. This poisons the well from the start and gives legitimization for people who think fun video games and their political messaging are mutually exclusive goals. Sweet Baby is just one company among many censorious sensitivity readers and censorship does not improve games, it just makes plots worse and women uglier.

  10. i finished watching the modern gaming video, subscribed and then went to check your channel only to realize you only had one video, jumped off the third story of a hilton hotels building, fractured my left leg and got a concussion and memory loss so bad that now i can rewatch the modern gaming video over and over like its new!

  11. Few words of appreciation I wanna leave here

    1. When I saw your thumbnail I thought you were gonna be another Synthetic Man or Nerdrotic who uses the most nonsensical reasoning to yell about how "MODERN MEDIA IS DEAD!!!!!", what I got was surprisingly nuanced points that while I didn't always agree with, I could still understand and appreciate where you were coming from and came out learning a new perspective.

    2. General question to lighten the mood: What would be your idea of the "perfect video game"? For me it would be an action game that can manage to seamlessly weave between the fast melee combat of DMC and the balls-to-the-ceiling gunplay of DOOM (if a game like that exists please let me know lol)
